      • damn! regretting not getting this deal now, was a bit worried about the laptop being a bit too plastic and breakable. Hopefully there will be a similar deal soon!

What do you think is the best to upgrade it? 8GB Ram and possibly SSD?
Or does it not need upgrading

        • no need to upgrade anything, runs really well stock.

I chucked in an additional 4GB stick (total 8GB) for $22 from MSY just because.

      • Hi Millzy

Are you experiencing any issues with selecting the graphics card?
Please see my above comments - this laptop got both HD400 (built in) and the dedicated AMD HHD 7660

But I cannot find a way to change the default graphics to AMD
Or even a way to switch the graphics card
JB HiFi told me, its automatic switching and the OS will determine when to switch the graphics card (e.g. when you play games etc)

        • Hey mate,

Your lappy would use onboard by default(HD400)and kick in the 1GB dedicated AMD graphics card when needed, ie games, like JB explained.

Why are you trying to use onboard graphics? It will take away memory from the cpu.

You might be able to setup a larger memory portion for the onboard graphics card in the bios. I think this lappy can have a maximum of 2GB. This will obviously take 2GB of memory from your ram which would normally be used for the cpu

Not sure if I'm reading your query correct.

        • Thanks for the response, I'm actually trying to use the AMD Graphics instead of HD4000.

I've posted a thread in Whirlpool but no resolution yet
So wondering if anybody who bought this laptop from this thread have figured it out

        • Hi Bappy,

I read your post on whirlpool.

You're trying to set the dedicated graphics card as default because you're worried the onboard card would be stealing 2GB from your RAM makeup?

          Is that right?

        • Well, I'm not worried if it steals
But I want to know if the dedicated graphics is in use at all (so that I know it works) - still unable to find a way to figure it…

I have heard there are some games which shows you which graphics is in use
But don't have any more details

          Thanks

Wonder if JB will have another special this weekend for under $600? There's still a few weeks before the Windows 8 laptops come out.

    • I hope so, I regret not getting this one too! Anyone know whether they will be?

  • I click on the link n it shows 798 ????

      The sale finished monday

  • does anyone know how the laptop runs playing games? e.g. skyrim, COD, crysis and other new games?

  • Online customer service price matched the previous sale price for me, I contacted both the store and online customer service through the contact us section and they were both willing to price match the previous sale price so might be an idea to give that a try for anyone who missed out. The good guys wouldn't price match the sale price or receipted price (now or during the sale) as its well below what they pay (aparently).

    • just confirming this is from JB Hi-Fi?

      • yes JB HI-FI price matched their sale price

        • okay thanks, so you just asked them if they would sell it for the same price they had it for several days ago?

        • Basically, they wouldn't when I phoned but were happy to via email

        • would you be able to tell me the basics of what you sent them in the email?
          would be much apreciated

Checking store stock around Australia indicates this laptop is available nearly everywhere. I suspect it'll be on sale again soon. Hopefully closer to $600 mark this time.
