Copy of Receipt for WD My Book Essential Edition

Dear all,

If anyone of you still have a receipt for WD My Book Essential Edition, could you please give me the scanned copy since mine is dead and I lost the receipt so I could not claim for warranty. This is not a fraud or anything, mine was purchased around Nov 2009 so it is supposed to still be under warranty anyway, which is 3 years.

Appreciate your help a lot.

What steps have you gone through to claim your warranty? Did you contact Western Digital?

To get a product replacement, head onto the WD website and then click the appropriate link.

Hi, I did get on to the website but it said that it is out of warranty already. I am pretty sure that I bought it somewhere in November. I will try to go back to the store tomorrow to see if I can get the record out of their database. Still, if you have one, could you please scan it for me?

It's still technically fraud imo as that's not your receipt… You're trying to pass something that's not yours off as yours.

    • I am really sorry but there is no other way I can think of. I will try to go back to the store tomorrow and see what they can do.

My view about the issue is that the company is still responsible for my hard drive, the receipt is just the formality of the claim so in overall, doing that will create no extra burden for the company anyway.

Thanks for pointing out your view and I am very sorry about that. Please understand.

Technically if it is under warranty then you dont need a reciept however you do need to be able to prove when you purchased the item. If you have a bank statement where they may be able to match the price or they may be able to go back through their sales and find a copy of the reciept (will normally go to their head office and may take a few days). For this to work though you will need to give them some fairly precise dates/times.

  • Dear all, thanks for your reply and help.

I was about to go back to the store and asked them to provide me with a copy of the receipt. As earths_pacifist said, I did need to provide them precisely with my date of purchase, which I could luckily trace back from my mum.

At first, they could not find the receip using my name as it turned out that they did not record my name and just called me "customer".
