I'm looking for the best option to get a relatively low priced console to run fairly recent versions of FIFA and NBA only. Ideally want a disc console as I don't want to pay digital subscriptions etc. I'm old school and haven't had a console and 10-15 years. Had thought of maybe a used Xbox One S might be the way to go but I'm not really across the latest consoles and what digital barriers might be in place to play these games. Thanks !
If you only want to play 2 games, and those games are updated annually anyway, why do you want the disks? So you can sell them later and buy near years version? Or is the plan to be a year behind? I don’t see the point of getting a disk console if you are pinky going to play those games.
Didn't want to be locked to a digital subscription, or can you buy the game once without having to update later?
AFAIK these are online only games and even to play casual you need to be connected which on PlayStation also means paying an annual subscription and I suspect that is the case on Xbox too. I don’t know how long they keep the servers on for old version, but I suspect it’s only about 3 years after the new year version comes out.
XSX is the only current xbox with disc. And PS5 slim with the disc add-on costs just as much. Switch 2 comes out next year, so you might not want to buy a Switch OLED right now.
just grab a previous gen used xbox or ps4 - any will do

Actually this is the right answer. If you want to save a bob the new gen versions aren’t much of an upgrade.
Get yourself a used Xbox One for $150 on ebay. The FIFA & NBA games are often the final games to be published on the consoles long after every other dev stops putting games on them.
Well FIFA 23 is the final FIFA game (by EA anyway) and is available on Xbox One. It'll be EAFC from now on, and also whoever gets the FIFA game rights will obviously sell games called FIFA.
