Tips: Need to Print Movie Poster and Frame It for Media Room

Sorry, noob question here….I have 3 of these FISKBO Frames, black, 50x70 cm (https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/fiskbo-frame-black-10297963)
I would like to print (A2 size) movie posters chosen by my kids and place in the ikea frame.
Thinking to print at BigW but wondering which websites or so to search the movie posters for high quality so the printing won't be bad.
Any tips? TIA.

To print A2 size at 300dpi, the pic would have to be at least 4950×9720. It's unlikely you'll find such high res poster images on the Internet for free. Officeworks charges $12-$35 per A2 print, depending on quality. Much easier and cheaper to buy posters from a shop.

    • Thanks for these ideas.
Any shop do you recommend for movie posters?

      • Depends on the movies your kids chose. I only know kmart and bigw. Try reddit or sail the high seas.

      • if you want to buy a poster just google 'posters australia'. Allposters is pretty large and does reasonable work, Blue Dog is a specialist poster shop

if you want to find a high quality jpeg/image then you will have to search around. There are quite a few people who put up high res versions of things or screen caps, but its not like they are gathered in one place or on one site.

    • I'd print in 600dpi anyway. With digital printing on a fine art photo printer/paper you notice the difference when you look at it close. OP could use the Super Resolution feature of Photoshop to double the horizontal and vertical resolution, though ymmv.

What he could do though is fake a halftone look in Photoshop.

  • Don't forget to buy some black paper to fill the gaps in, as A2 paper is smaller than the frame (594 x 420mm vs. 700 x 500mm).

    • Thanks

      • Or get a mat cut that will cover just the edges of the A2 paper. Will look classy. Floating the print looks nice too imo, but that's more for actual collectable prints.

  • I'm fairly certain bigw still has those movie poster displays buried in the stationary section, might only be in their bigger stores now though.

That might be one way to let the kids choose and not worry about copyright issues.
