Reliable Powerbank Suggestion (Not Amazon)

Hello Fellow Ozbargainers,

Can you please let me know which power bank you would recommend?

I'm avoiding buying from Amazon, and would prefer delivery - happy for overseas items if they're worth it, just want something that will work for at least 2 years…

A. Techunion 10,000 - $25 delivered.

Would recommend looking at Anker. Owned 2 Powerbanks from them. Worked great for 3+ years and 2+ till I lost it :P
I got another new one now, would recommend looking at their offering.
They usually support faster charging as well.

This seems to be similar to your price range.

    Some other considerations:
If travelling internationally you usually can bring power banks up to 27,000 mAh on most passenger aircraft. Larger power banks may be allowed on some airlines bu may require permission.

Also have you had any purchase experience with Zyrontech? I have purchased 2 Chargers from them and boh time faced significant delivery issues.

    • I haven't purchased anything from Zyrontech, hence why I reached out to get some feedback.

The Anker looks good. So USB-C is input only? And output via USB-A? But only up to 12W. (I don't use micro usb anymore).

Thanks, will note to avoid the 30,000 mAh for flying then. Was thinking it would be perfect for a Tasmania roadtrip.

  • First things first, what do you plan on using the power bank for? Is it just for charging mobile phones or do you have other devices you will need to be charging?

Do you need to charge multiple devices at once?
Do you think spending a bit more money on a power bank that charge at 65w to 100w (for laptops and other higher wattage devices) would be worthwhile?
How compact do you need it to be, will you be carrying it around in a backpack or in your pocket?

    There is a massive weight difference between a 10,000mah and a 30,000mah.

Also note most airlines do not allow devices more than 100wh on planes so the 30,000mah bank you linked it technically not able to be carried.

Personally I travel with 2. I have a 25,000mah Cygnet Pro (less than 100wh), it outputs 100w so can be used for laptops etc. This only stays in my backpack for flights, trains etc.

I have a small and light 10,000mah bank for carrying around in my pocket. If your going to be carrying it around on your person go for light weight and compact, whatever brand you end up going with. Something similar to below, although i know your avoiding amazon for whatever reason. I don't like either option you linked.

    • Basically for recharging the phone.

And I considered the larger one because it'd be good for camping trips. Although now that it probably can't be flown, it won't suit.

I'm trying to avoid Amazon, but thanks.

Have you heard of Anker when looking in Amazon? It's rated highly.

I currently have this as a backup.

  • I’ve still got a 10 year old cygnett that’s going strong. Only drawback is it’s 4400mah capacity is useless now. It’s weird to think this used to get me 3.5 charges on my phone.

    • I haven't seen any good prices on the Cygnett's… Probably because they're reliable, so don't need to move stock based on pricing?

      Ended up with Cygnett.

Hopefully their reliability for power banks is still there…

      Time will tell.

      Thanks!

      • Keen to hear how you go! I’ll be sure to get in touch when I finally replace mine to see how yours has fared.

Another vote for Anker products. Still have cables and power banks from 2013 that work great.

  • Romoss seems fine for me

  • What's your intended use case?

You've also linked some very different kinds of batteries.

In my opinion, a 30,000mAh battery is something I would only ever carry whilst travelling or when I know I'll be on the road for a long time without access to a wall plug. Then a 20,000mAh would be something I'm happy carrying in a backpack or briefcase for daily use. 10,000mAh is a good pocketable size, so is really useful for quick top-ups.

    • Basically for recharging the phone.

And I considered the larger one because it'd be good for camping trips. Although now that it probably can't be flown, it won't suit.

I would go with anker or xiaomi, had my xiaomi power bank pro 20k for years and dang boi that brick last forever and it has 60W PD output, drawbacks: take ages to charge.
Currently using Anker 733 Fusion, only 10k but have power plug built-in so I don't have to carry another charger to charge the brick, quite satisfied with this so far.

    • Thanks.

Do you have a link for a suggested Xiaomi one?

Looking on feebay there are multiple ones, but I don't know which is legit.

      Yours sounds like a winner!

  • Thanks everyone,

    I appreciate all the suggestions.

I ended up deciding to get the CHARGEUP OUTBACK
20,000 mAh Outdoor Solar Power Bank ($79)

    https://www.cygnett.com/collections/power-banks/products/cha…

And also ordered one of the following ($29)

    CHARGEUP PRIME
10,000 mAh Power Bank - Black
    https://www.cygnett.com/collections/power-banks/products/cha…

Reason for Cygnett was they had the solar charger which sounded useful for camping, and their warranty policy seems fair (2 years, and they pay return shipping).

Total $92 delivered with a coupon code.
