  • Good specs for the price, but only 10 W wired charging max only.

    • +3

Yes it just means it will take a couple of hours to charge. But it's no big deal if you just leave it to charge up over night.

      • Sure, slow charging will even be better for the battery.

But to have QC3/18W is nice for a quick top up in the car etc.and being around for years now

        in lower/mid priced phones.

        • Yes well it was only a low to mid range phone in the day if that. You can't expect quick charge from it.

I have the OPPO A74 5G phone and it also takes hours to charge. I turned it into a little tablet because i now use the TCL 20 Pro 5G as my daily phone. It's got wireless charging and an AMOLED screen.

          • @hollykryten: Unfortunately this seems to be true for many phone models now below $200-$300

from various brands but was not always the case. This is similar to the downsizing trend

in many consumables and rising inflation. Just look at these older similarly priced

( at the time ) that had 18W QC3 charging. Also your Oppo A74 does have 33 W capable

charging if combined with compatible cable and charger and is also a big 5000 mAh battery.

            • @ozhunter68: The specs say that the OPPO A74 5G was only 18W wired charging. You're thinking of the A74 4G model which had 33W charging. Funny how the 4G version had better wired charging than the updated 5G version. So you're right about how they downsize later models.

Given that the A54 5G model has only 10W wired charging with a 5000 mAh battery according to the specs. Remember that this is the 5G version, there is also a 4G version of the A54 with some different specs. But funny how the older 4G version of the A54 has 18W wired charging but the newer 5G version was downgraded to 10W wired charging.

This says that it should take 2.5 to 3 hours to fully charge a 5000 mAh battery at 10W charge. But i reckon it seems to feel like it takes longer when the phone is turned on during the time. The switched on phone probably takes power away from the charging power.

  • Did the price go up? Sale price was 235 and ebay now before discount is 247.

    • Yep, 'Buy It Now price' was jacked by seller at 12:27:51 AEDST

    • Back down to $235 - 20% = $188

  • Typical. Makes it look like a price grab.

If you've got Ebay Plus then try the DASO20 coupon it will bring it down to $197.60 delivered. Still not as good of a deal as this was.

  • nfc?

  • what android does it have and how long will it receive security updates etc?

    • As someone that has the Oppo A52 with very similar specs just the older version of this one, it still gets security updates but hasn't had an android update forever basically (stuck on android 11 is my one).

I assume this A54 will be similar. No android updates but security updates for quite a while.

Good phone, battery life is great but 64gb storage is just not enough imo, I keep running out of space.

  • I agree for storage point. it doesn't have expandable storage, I assume

  • I'm more Intrested in using this as a wifi hotpot. Way cheaper then thr options out there for dedicated hot spots. Seems like it should handle it and have good speeds for it. Assuming the 5g reception is good. And the slow charging should help having it on charger all day
