The conversion takes place on a secure cloud server, which makes the conversion easier and faster while also saving the battery significantly. You must have an internet connection to use this app. The files are deleted from the server immediately after conversion. Although the files are immediately deleted after conversion or cancellation, you should note that by using this app, you agree that your files will be sent from the app to the conversion server over the Internet.
We also recently added local conversion support for many popular conversion types. These conversions do not require a server and are usually almost instantaneous! With each update, support for more local conversions is added.

The conversion takes place on a secure cloud server

Which means they could be storing and listening to everything you upload.

Up to you if you trust that or not. Absolutely no way of verifying what they’re saying is true.

Privacy policy is not good at all.

Yeh. Anyone reading this, don’t forget that free isn’t always best.

Great deal, but yeah I don't understand the uploading to a secure server - phones these days are more than capable of converting an audio file. Because I cannot think of a good reason to be using a server for this product I can only assume its a bad reason like data retention

    • Uploading to a server running ffmpeg would be much simpler and would mean their iOS and Android apps are just basic UI wrappers to their conversion API.

May also be a restriction from Apple (not sure, haven’t kept up with iOS development for years).

Simpler but at the compromise of security, I guess it depends, if its expendable then who cares. Apple is pretty good these days with as far as what apps can do, I am pretty sure with the new iphone you can even browse its files through your computer because of USB-c.

      • FFMPEG is available for both iOS and Android. Doing it locally means no internet use as well. It looks like they have ulterior motives.

I can guarantee you they’ll be using the data uploaded to the cloud.

  • I often just use one of those online converters, work the same way but more anonymous than installing an app.

  • Thanks 🙏
