What's the best way to transport a dining table + 6 chairs that won't add to the cost too much but will be safe? Please offer recommendations and how much it's likely to cost. I am in SA. Thanks.
Cheapest way to move Dining table 6 chairs? SA

I'm in the same dilemma, so i searched around on gumtree, trading post, ebay services and even contemplated on hiring a small comercial van from budget rentals. We've decided to hire a guy with a van and we'll load the dinning sets ourselves to minimize the costs. I'm in Syd though.
I agree with Shue, in Melbourne there's this company call Man with a Van that can move stuff for a cheap price.
Can the dining table fit in a hatchback or a sports wagon? Maybe you can consider borrowing a mate's car or ute for a day.
So far I have a quote from Black & White taxi trucks for $90 - (van with driver) and load it ourselves. Its about a 45m drive from pick up to delivery suburb. At this stage, I haven't made the purchase - it's a private sale, and I want to get an idea on the added delivery cost before I commit to buy. The dining table won't fit in our hatchback, a couple of chairs would. I haven't moved furniture in a ute before and am a bit concerned the table would get damaged if it had to be tied down. My brother has a ute but is miles away in the opposite direction. I'll keep looking. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll check out gumtree etc.
You can look into hiring a trailer. Also if you are planning on buying anything from Bunnings requiring transportation, they can hire a trailer for free (one or two hours).
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, we don't have a tow bar.
might be worth joining up to an online group like free and cheap (yahoo) its where you can sell your items, but also people post jobs…like moving items etc with a price
Thanks Hangingaround, I have joined free and cheap :)
I would like to know as well. Removalists cost an arm and a leg these days. Got a king size bed to move from friends' place to ours early next month as they are moving overseas…
