I have a pass for the Qantas lounge that I want to assign to a mate who flies domestically early tomorrow morning (about 11 hours from now). The Qantas site says that lounge passes must be assigned at least 24 hours before the flight.
Has anyone tried assigning a pass within the 24 hour window and what was the result?

I would think you're fine, I have linked my partner and I's lounge pass to our booking whilst standing in the security line, then walked in with no issues.
I tried for a friend about 14 hours before their domestic MEL->SYD and it never showed up on their reservation
I have linked lounge invites when I get to the airport a couple of hours before a flight and haven't had any issues accessing the lounge.
I have linked it for my travel companions as I walked into the lounge. It's been pretty much instant for me every time. It's always been for people on the same itinerary/booking, not sure if that makes a difference.
Flew MEL-BNE yesterday, missed my flight, got assigned a new one, and linked a lounge pass 10 mins orior to walking in.
I thought the exact same thing re the 24 hr requirement.
That being said, I used to fly a lot, so when I walked up to the lady at the front desk, she scanned my boarding pass and said "Good to see you again Mr Smith. I havn't seen you in here in ages. Enjoy your stay with us this afternoon," she said rather enthusiastically. I wasnt sure if the invitation went through.
I fly to Cairns tomorrow. But havent checked in yet, so will let u all know whether or not the host guested me in, or the pass linked to new flight in 10 mins. I just lost QF Gold, so no more complimentary Qantas Pub.
tip..always deal with soneone you recognise. It helps.
As per Qantas' website: "You'll need to link your invitation at least 24 hours before departure, and before the expiry date.If you link an invitation within 24 hours of departure, you may have to wait for more than 20 minutes for it to be processed."
However, I am not sure if you're able to link it to someone else's flight (i.e. booked under someone else's QFF) - you may have to transfer to your friend first before it can be linked.
