I received an email from TimeZone that says Claim your $20 Voucher* and there is no information within the email itself.
Here is a link to the image in the email.
I did not even notice the * at first. Then you see it is basically a thing where if you buy $x you get the $20 extra.
What do you think about this kind of thing? Is it one of those things where it is within the rules but just a bit shonky on their side or is it against any advertising rules?
Yes there are legal policies e-mail marketing needs to have such as having an unsubscribe button or the fine print can't be similar colour than the background and needs to be legible and needs to be minimum X size font.
Legally, yes but there needs to be a link or a statement at the bottom to link with the asterisk for the terms and conditions. Even if it's something like * Please see full terms and conditions on our website here (link).
But in saying that the EDMs are not heavily regulated. The receiver needs to dig deeper on the conditions of the promo.
If you click the "claim now" banner/button, it may state the terms and conditions of the promo there and this can be a grey area on where the promo condition asterick should be.
The person who made the promo prob forgot to add it at the bottom. Alot of people make mistakes with EDMs, it happens
