Here I am again with yet another popsocket deal lol. Been eyeing this smaller one which isn’t yet available locally. This is the newer version of the last one I posted during Prime Day. 40% off only for the black one.

Edit: $49 RRP on Popsocket AU website (Thanks to DrKB108 for pointing it out)

  • Nice find! If you get it from PopSockets in Australia, it is $35 with $8 delivery fee. The newer models look more cleaner as they take less surface area, but I do wonder if it compromsies the magnetic strength

    • It shouldn't, as the magnets in MagSafe are arranged in a ring. See any clear MagSafe case.

    • Cheers, this round one isn't on the AU website though. Correct me if I am wrong. Only the bigger one. YouTube reviewers say it's as strong as the bigger.

The two magnets at the bottom are very weak in comparison, they basically just exist so you can align your phone perfectly upright and to stop things like wallets from turning. They don't hold much on their own.

      • Ah interesting, I was certain that the bottom magnets had some purpose

        • I mean, they do. But mostly it's for aligning things so they don't spin around, not for keeping them attached to the phone itself

          • @TheRealCJ: Yeah it makes sense, I suppose the new popsocket could spin around but the magnet probably stops that/they maybe put a grippy texture

  • Would somebody be able to outline the use case for this. A parent might enjoy this, but unsure.

    • For me, it's to hold better a bigger heavier phone so one-hand use is easier and less probability of my phone slipping out from my hand especially when using it outside. It makes it more comfortable to hold as well as the weight of the phone is not concentrated to your pinky, which usually bears the weight of your entire phone and can make it uncomfortable to hold for longer periods of time. You can use it as a stand too!

    • I like having a popsocket for one-handed usage, but it gets in the way of using magsafe chargers or especially in my case, being able to use my RAM x-mount while on my motorbike or 4WDing. If you use things that require a flat back like game controllers or gimbals, etc. It saves having to take your phone out of your case with a pop socket stuck permanently to the back.

  • why they didn't design the small one in the begging?

  • Noob question because the images specifically only show iphones…
would this work if I have a Pixel 7 with a plain case and a magnetic mount in my car?

    • Oops replied below.

@RevMet It will work if you have a MagSafe case for your pixel 7, not a plain case. Or you can adapt your existing case (if you have clearance and the right surface) with a MagSafe magnetic ring attachment Something like this for example. https://amzn.asia/d/4fR1ivg

The MagSafe magnets are arranged in a specific way so your current magnetic mount will not work, unless it’s for MagSafe.

Otherwise, there are plenty of cases on Amazon with MagSafe ring for Pixel 7.

    • dang okay
      thanks for the comment!

I have a Pixel 7 with a Peak Design case, which is designed to be MagSafe compatible. It works with all Magsafe accessories including the Gen 1 version of this PopSocket (the more rectangular base) but it's undoubtedly not as strong a grip as with my wife's iPhone 12.
