Can You Claim TRS with E-Receipt

Hi everyone, mate of mine have bought a brand new iPhone from Apple online store but he was not given any paper receipt but an online invoice.

My mate will be travelling overseas and would like to claim for the TRS Scheme however on the TRS websites it states that you will need to provide the original invoice, however in this case he only had a copy of the e-invoice he received from the Apple Store.

My question here is will that be okay if he prints a copy of the e-receipt and provide this to the TRS people at the Airport or does he need to get a paper invoice from the Apple Store?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Ta

Yes, done it recently. Just do yourself and everyone else in the queue a favour and download the TRS app and pre-fill everything.

The customs officer take much longer and be much grumpier if you don't.

E receipt was ok for my cwh order

  • Yes, your mate can also pre-lodge the TRS claim by uploading the e-invoice on Australian Customs website

Just be sure the name is present on the invoice if it's over $1000 (which I guess it is since you mentioned iPhone)

Tax invoices for sales of $1000 or more must also include the buyer's identity, for example their full name or passport number.
