[NSW, Switch] Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet - $39.96 each @ Costco, Crossroads In-Store (Membership Required)

200

Physical copies of Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet both available for $39.96 instore at Costco Crossroads earlier this today. Was probably about 20 or so cardboard things on the shelf (didn't note what ratio they were) and assuming one for each copy they had left. Don't see it online, maybe store specific also. If I understand my Costco signs, its a clearance price and won't be restocked.

Currently $68 on Amazon, $64 at HN.

  • Genuinely curious.

Does costco stop you entering without membership?

And if not, surely theyd get a lot of average joes just leaving a trolley behind when they try to checkout and are refused.

Their model just seems so odd to me, lol.

Yes. They make you show your membership before you enter. They can be really strict about entering through the right enterance too. Was at the Gold Coast store today and the person at the door wouldn't let a staff member enter through the exit. They tried a few times but, nope, made the staff member turn around and go through the enterance.

        Huh, how wild.
You'd think the membership fees would be outweighed by the extra staff enforcing it.
        Guess not!
If it works for them, it works for them :)

you have to have a valid membership card to checkout anyway as they scan that first before you can proceed with the purchase.

      • Saw a guy used friend's card. Manager gave hime a choice:
        1. You can buy all those in the shopping cart - We have to keep this membership card
        2. You can leave the shopping cart and not buy anything today - We still have to keep the membership card

  • You have to show your card, but it seems pretty lax and card can be expired.

If you don't have a card to show they have a line right beside the front door for membership.

They tell you if you don't want membership at any time cancel it and they will give you all your money back.

      So, sign up, shop, cancel?

      • Yes, you can do it. But why not just keep it for longer, no more than a year, then cancel it
