  • VEJA has always struck me as a bit overpriced for what you get tbh, I can't see how these are worth the RRP. And this is from someone who has paid similar money to the RRP for New Balance

  • Leather? I thought the whole point of this brand was that they didn't use leather.

"leather" doesn't exclusively refer to animal-derived leather

ACCC chairman Graeme Samuel said consumers seek out and often pay a premium for leather goods.
"The ACCC will not tolerate traders in the furniture or any other industry misrepresenting predominantly synthetic materials as leather.

VEJA don’t totally understand what this brand is about and why it is popular 🤷‍♂️

I know people love to hate on the brand but i've had a pair i bought a 2 years ago on sale (Veja Esplar) and they've held up better than most shoes i get these days. While a bit stiff for the first few days (particularly the tongue digging into the front of your ankle) if you can get past that it's pretty decent sneaker.

    My experience with my esplars:

    Advantages:
    - Easiest shoe to clean (just a wipe down with a wet wipe usually sufficient)
    - Quite light weight
    - sole has lasted 2+ years being my casual drivers (literally didn't own another pair during this period) and still hasn't worn down to the inner sole
    - No major damage in my Upper, slight creasing around the sides at toe box
    - Upper and sole have not separated which does tend to occur in sneakers quite easily
    - quite comfortable to walk around in compared low cut sneakers (CPs, nike blazers, vans)

    Disadvantages:
    - front of the toebox sole is hard to clean without getting a brush out and sometimes still takes me a bit of effort to clean (this is not unique to this shoe but all shoes with this style)
    - I still think there are better shoes for styling with a slightly more formal outfit
    - quite expensive especially if at full price
    - some of the 'whites' are more eggshell and not as clean white as you might want.
    - not much traction on sole (not that im expecting this from a sneaker like this)

    • I’m looking for sneaker ideas. Which do you find better for slightly more formal outfit?
