              • @bob19:

Animals are not as cruel as the terrorists who kill babies, cut off their heads and take some as hostages.

You clearly haven't watched many nature docos then. I'd take my chances with Hamas over a Chimpanzee.

            • @fookos: Treat people like animals and then act surprised when they bite…?

            • +2

@fookos: The animals are the people that incarcerate children under 12 and subject them to physical and sexual abuse. The people that harvest and sell Palestinian organs when they die without their consent. It's the people that subject the Palestinians to a kangaroo court where the conviction rate is 99.9%. It's the people that take advantage of Mothers and their terminally ill children and give them a choice to either become snitches or they deny treatment to the child. It's the people that subjected Gaza to a blockade where they count the calories that enter Gaza boasting at times they want to put Gazans on a Diet. Animals indead.

        • +18

What about the 75 years of torment Israel has imposed on Palestine ? Please don’t talk about fair with that crap

          • +8

@sarah965: Israel left Gaza in 2005 in the hands of Hamas. Google it. The billions given to Gaza went on terror tunnels and hundreds of thousands of missiles to kill civilians.

            • +18

@abacus: You know that Israeli did not stop the blockade, restricted the movement of Palestinians and also continued killing and building illegal settlements, stop spreading lies

              • @abacus: skynews lol yeh thats a factual site alright lmao, owned by jews

            • +1

@abacus: Here is Gaza, you can’t leave easily, you, food, medical supplies, any consumer goods can’t come in, we blew up your airport, we blocked your coast and no boats can come in.

You are ‘free’ to do what you want.

Free South Africa from Apartheid!! I mean Gaza, sorry.

            • +1

@abacus: Lmao by leaving you mean they surrounded it and if you left you couldn't return. Gaza was literally an open air prison. Give your head a good old wobble and sit this out champ.

          • +6

@sarah965: Well when your country is literally run by a terrorist organisation what do you expect!!

            • +9

@pauliau: To the arab world, they see IDF as a terrorist organisation

              • -1

@mrkorrupt: Some groups view the IDF as a terrorist organization. Some hold the belief that any land they have once conquered should always remain under their ownership, and this perspective may extend to other countries, which they might also label as terrorist entities.

                • @gto21: land grab and hold long enough the map changes, look at russia and ukraine, china builds islands where there was no land and redraws borders … thing about land is it’s a limited resource and populations and need for resources grows.

                  • @garage sale: What's your argument? Hamas and/or Israel require additional resources?

                  • @garage sale: Part of the issue is that both peoples have historical claim to the land.

              • +2

@mrkorrupt: Well lucky the IDF dont run israel

Hamas on the other hand do run Gaza

              • +1

@mrkorrupt: IDF is one of the most technologically advanced well fed terrorist army in the world

            • @pauliau: stop talking about Israel like that, they dont like it

            • @pauliau: Palestinian Authority is not supported in Palestine at all, they have sold out for the last 15 years and gave everything to the Israelis and the Palestinian Authority did nothing, zero, did not improve the situation one bit

            • +4

@pauliau: Hamas was formed as a resistance against the illegal Israeli occupation of Gaza and West Bank.

          • +8

@sarah965: Hamas governs the Gaza Strip. And Hamas does not accept to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

            • +2

@gto21: Why are you adding the Jewish in there? If it was Christians or atheists holding it they still wouldn’t recognise Israel as a state. It was Palestinian land.

The religion factor just adds more animosity and you add it to garner more sympathy and make it seem like they are a bit more crazy with a religious reason being the main factor.

Current Israelis are the most recent invaders. Apartheid rulers. This within one generation of their own people subject to genocide. For shame.

              • @nathand: Many of them endorse Hamas, the organization known for its controversial actions, including violence and sexual assault. Embracing governance under Hamas, a group responsible for killing and sexual assault, carries significant repercussions.

                • +1

@gto21: Ok don’t answer the question and make some unrelated statement about some people endorsing Hamas.

There were many Jewish ‘organisations’ that committed atrocities when they took over Palestine and many of the leaders of those groups that perpetrated violence were not punished and actually became Israeli Prime Ministers like Ariel Sharon who was in the Alexandroni Brigade that perpetrated the Tantura Massacre against Palestinians, extra judicial executions and sexual assaults. So Israel accepted war criminals for their leaders as well.

Violence on both sides, evil begets evil I’m afraid and the seeds were sewed 70 years ago in this current conflict by Israeli invaders.

                  • @nathand: They committed acts of violence, including killing and raping women. Recently, there have been reports that the killing of babies was not fabricated. Any nation with a strong military would do the same.

              • @nathand: israel is a religious state, if you are born outside of israel but are of the faith you are entitled to citizenship. religious states are always of concern, europe went through the enlightenment and separated religion from state, some parts of the world haven’t regardless of which religion.

              • +1

                @nathand:

                It was Palestinian land.

Have you heard of the bible? Do you remember who was living there in that story?

Quick history lesson, the Muslims conquered that area in the 1500's ruled for 500 years then lost it in WW1.
You can argue who you think should rule it, but the land predates Islam by thousands of years, so it's a tough argument to say they were there first.

            • @gto21: No such thing as 'isreal' Palestine from the river to the sea.

          • @sarah965: Palestine chose to go extremists way. They could have progressed scientifically and technologically if they wanted.

            • +3

@Iwantthatbargain: How could they when Israeli would not allow them to. Their agenda has always been to annihilate the Palestinians. Palestine was a progressive peaceful state before the Illegal occupation of Israel.

            • +3

@Iwantthatbargain: Palestine never really got the choice, it was forced on them by israel and the UN

              • +1

@Drakesy: Right o, you do realise it was actually Israel’s land (it was actually called the Land of Israel) to start with since about 1000BC… looong before Palestine came into existence.

        • +14

You do know Hamas and Palestinians are different people, right?

          • +7

@NuttyGoodness: However Hamas was elected (after which they immediately banned any future elections), but they still command high support in polls.

Thankfully not all Palestinians support Hamas, but most do.

Hopefully after this, many desert them.

            • +2

@Wolfenstein98k: I'm afraid though that after the IDF let rip with their "revenge" in Gaza, many more will want to join Hamas.

              • @alidli: seems like the logical move after you get your house blown up

              • +1

@alidli: That is almost inevitable at this stage, if not now later. Fight fire with fire is not really a good recipe in this context. There will be a lot of memories, a lot of anger. Somehow peace needs to be established.

                • @Ifndefx: I know suggesting this may sound a bit crass, but both sides now have a similar amount of people that are dead, so why not call a truce and spare everyone that's still alive any more suffering and heartbreak.

Come on America and Europe you need to do something NOW.

      • Yes, until the hostages are returned. They announced that.

      • Isn't that a war crime, since Israel has declared a war ?

    • +4

The telephone lines / mobile reception and electricity has been cut to Gaza, how they gonna answer the call? Using telepathy?

thats why telstra can afford to make it free!!
palestine isnt going to answer the calls
      israel doesnt need free calls
      Telstra looks good for PR
      Telstra wins

    • +2

Telstra doesn't control Gazan telecom infrastructure.

But they are fully subsidising all calls there and to the West Bank and Israel too.

    • +1

Qantas should offer free airplane trips to the above mentioned countries

      • Imagine qantas doing something altruistic
        Just imagine.

Joyce;"Frydenburg, wanna throw some money our way so we can run fully subsidised repatriation flights and use it as a marketing opportunity about how we're keeping australians safe?"

Frydenburg:"But virgin can do it as well"

Joyce: "Shhhh, but we're AUsTrAlIan and poor"

      • Airport in Gaza was destroyed decades ago by Israel, maybe connection through Qatar or something?

        • maybe connection through Qatar or something?

Er… how are you connecting exactly? All borders are shut.

    • +4

      https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2023/10/11/israel-ha…

Israel just attacked Syria's airports in Damascus and Alleppo

      • Oh but we cant forget about the rumoured baby beheadings

      • +2

Not saying that particular fact isn't correct, but do you really thing Qatari state media are a reliable source for Israel issues?

        • +1

Al Jazeera quoted their source. The report is from SANA, Syrian state media. Looks like it's true because I see flight 6Q742 diverting away from Damascus Airport on Flightradar24.

          • @Techie4066: Yeah, hence why I said "Not saying that particular fact isn't correct"

            • -1

@Sim69: I wont do my own research but will make outlandish statements about well known news media organisation.

I’m not saying they aren’t reputable but I only watch Fox and Sky News for my reports for the truthiness, you know from reputable news media sources from the US and Australia.

              • +1

@nathand: How is stating that Al Jazeera are Qatari state-owned "outlandish"? It's a well known fact

                • @Sim69: They should say the same thing about the ABC

                  • -2

@subwoofer: Sure, except Australia is a democratic country with a free press while Qatar is a dictatorship with censorship of and restrictions on the freedom of media. Additionally, Qatar don't even recognise Israel as a country.

                    • -2

@Sim69: isreal is not a country, it's colony that's built on the destruction of an entire nation. As for free press here, when was the last time you saw a Palestinian on national tv telling their side of the story? never, Just yesterday they gave the police 'extraordinary' powers to search and detain Pro Palestinians if they show any support for Palestine like a Palestinian flag. It seems as an Australian you have to pledge your loyalty to…. isreal

                      • @subwoofer: Unlike Palestine, Israel is recognised as a country by the UN. This is just a basic fact and I don't see why you would argue against it. Also, the ABC literally interviewed a Palestinian politician on 7:30 four days ago.

        • oh right.. so I should listen to the jewish owned news channel in the west right?

    • "Israel, The Palestinian Territories and Afghanistan."

  • +4

Why is Afghanistan suddenly grouped in with Israel?

    • +23

      Earthquake

    • +2

Because of their recent 6.3 magnitude earthquake, id assume.

      • +8

Imagine if that happened in a part of world that we care

        • +1

Well..i know you aren't talking about America.

        • From your smart phone to your super investment to your entertainment to your workstation, yep that's why you care.

    • +4

It's not being grouped with Israel. There was a major earthquake there over the weekend and several thousand people have died.

      • +25

Funny how little press that got

        • +17

Spot on. I was going to include something in my comment about how our media all seem to have a soft spot for Israel but stopped short.

          • @twjr: Oy Vey!

          • +8

@twjr: It's not just having a soft spot for Israel, but for the western world in general. If Donald Trump got caught picking his nose, that would get more air time than a flood killing hundreds of people somewhere in Asia.

            • @Trishool: Undoubtedly that's part of what's driving the media coverage. Although I'd probably narrow it to the Anglosphere rather than the West. We get relatively poor coverage of events in Western Europe versus US, UK and NZ. However, there is particularly soft coverage of Israel by both media and political institutionsb over and above the Anglocentric coverage.

        • +6

War sells more news clicks obviously.

Stocks in Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, BAE all went up. War is profitable to a lot of people.

          • -2

@Blitzfx: raytheon, this company here.. you might think the earthquake was a coincidence the same way if it rains you would logically think its an act of nature and if anyone points anything out remotely close to what I'm about to say would be labelled a conspiracy theorist.. there was a podcast episode uploaded 2 months ago (1.4m views now) where the guy who was a contractor for raytheon said they have a weapon in Antarctica that creates earthquakes. the guy in the video has testified to the US congress under oath
edit: here i found it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rckecs0PKI4

        • I saw plenty of news stories about it. But it's not Afghanistan's first earthquake, even just this year.

  • +7

    Inb4 political forum thread

      • +32

Not at all a Hamas supporter and they are definitely terrorists - no excuse for murdering innocent people. But I just find it incredibly ironic that the IDF would label anyone a terrorist.

        • +8

The word "terrorist" is always used by one side of the conflict.
The other side will consider themselves rebels or freedom fighters.

I'd love some unbiased, reliable news sources to cover this.

The reports are horrendous and it's hard for anyone to defend, no matter how much you disagree with Israel, but the main stream media is, largely, in bed and in the back pockets of Israel, so you just never know.

        • +3

the IDF not only labelled Hamas terrorist but Palestinians as Animals.

          • +1

@Creamsoda: Palestinians as animals or Hamas as animals? I think I read that quote but it looked more like they were talking about the perpetrators of the attack.

    • +1

Yes, opinions in this thread are surprisingly mixed. I wonder how long it will take the JIDF shills to take notice and flood in.

  • Anyone share a brief summary as to what the hecks going on over there ATM….? Sorry for my ignorance 😞

      • +68

You forgot the preceding part where Palestinians had their country stolen, were murdered and herded into the world's largest prison, whilst their captors (and most of Western media) cry foul when there is obvious retaliation because of this.

        • +11

No previous act warrants Hamas going into Israel to abduct, assault and behead civilians including women, children, and babies. At a time when peace deals were being brokered, this has doomed the region for years if not decades to come. Feel how you want about Palestine, but even the thought of trying to support what Hamas did is inhumane and a left wing indoctrination.

          • +22

@niknikniknik: The fake news of beheading kids women has been busted.

            • +3

@notJV: Can you please show me how that its been busted? I have other people watching this video and believing it. I want to show them that its fake because i know it is!
