Is Exhaust Filter Replacement a Scam?

A few weeks ago, a person claiming to be contractor under the Victorian energy upgrade (VEU) came to my door asking if we need free filter replacement. As the replacement was said to be free and fast (5mins?),we agreed and exchanged details such as name, address and contact. She told us she booked us on Thursday (preferred date) and no one came.

Now that a few weeks passed, I'm slowly beginning to suspect that it was a scam or information collection agency, or we were a target for next burglary.

Did anyone successful had someone come to install exhaust filter? Or can someone shed some light into this?

Someone showing up to your door offering something free should be a giant red flag

Did you also give your wallet to the wallet inspector?

    • nope. just name, address and phone number.

  • Probably booked to do a DPF swap for your heat pump

    • Yea, i did a search up, it sounded legit.

It’s a legit program but they’re not meant to door knock to get customers.

        • but they’re not meant to door knock to get customers.

No, the are meant to use Indian call centres to call you up all hours of the day and night even though you are registered in the 'Do not call register'…

  • If something seems too good to be true ………..

  • The whole thing smells of private companies just proifteering off subsidised government handouts.
    A bit like NDIS
