Amazon or an in-Store Retailer Like David Jones Better for Warranty Claims?

Thinking of buying something that has a manufacturer warranty of 5 years. It's $70 more expensive at DJ compared to Amazon, but I was thinking maybe it would be worth the premium so that I have 2 points of contact + get DJ to sort out warranty issues.

Thoughts?

Generally, Amazon’s customer service is great imo.

Amazon's service has been fine for me, I don't believe DJs price match amazon but depending on what you are buying you could find another brick and mortar store that would be willing to price match them if you are worried.

  • It also depends if Amazon is selling it directly or it is a third-party seller. If the latter, I would be even more wary - as to who the third-party seller is. The seller I bought from had disappeared from Amazon when the item fails within the warranty period of 1 year. Fortunately, it was not that expensive an item.

Amazon is the kind of thing if it works then it works. When shit hits the fan then you get stone walled hard.

For instance I just dealt with Amazon where they outright lied and denied my screenshots were real….even though their live listing literally said the opposite.

Think about what you're buying and how you think you will make claims outside of warranty. Judge them for the worst case scenario.
