How dose ING identify a transaction a pay? can I just transfer from my other bank will ING find out?

    • +15

Payroll payments are expected to use a unique Transaction code in Direct Entry Files. Don't know if all employers do this correctly.

      Transaction Code:

      13 General Debit
      50 General Credit
      53 Payroll
      54 Pension
      55 Allotment
      56 Dividend
      57 Debenture Interest

Payroll Tran Code 53. If you just transfer from another bank, the Tran code will be 50.

Hats off to your knowledge !

do i really need to get my Pay in that or just transfer from another bank ??

  • Following, interested to know the same

  • They can figure out between automatic payrol deposit and manual deposit.

  • +1

I wish I was paid that much.

I could pay myself from an external account with a reference number that implies it's a payment of an invoice. That's pay from self-employment. That should do.

  • Damn already received my salary into ing so i dont get the offer

  • -1

Feels and looks like an affiliate link believe this is a standard offer.

  • Still been forever waiting for all my referral bonuses, but no luck. There's been a good mix of people saying they honor it, some saying they don't!

  • Do you think they will check for salary payments with the salary payments code? I don’t want to bother my payroll with this and to only switch it back again after the 2 months. I remember when I used to work for a very small org, we used to just make salary payments using standard transfers.

    • Its okay dont be sorry for your payroll.
2 changes in a year is normal. Just do it.

      • I know my payroll person well, in that payroll is only one of their many tasks they have to do. Just don’t think the admin burden is worth it for $50 benefit myself. If it was like a “faceless” big payroll team or even a dedicated payroll person, I’d do it without consideration.

  • While its a reasonable offer, I am not sure if its worth the trouble as once I get my salary in to ING I will only be able to Osco transfer of $1000 a day which kills the deal for me. I really wish they will remove all these silly hurdles which make it so much of a hassle to keep it. Otherwise I would love to move back to ING.

You can use beemit to fast transfer another $2000 per day, but yeh it's still one of the downsides to this account.

    • Its worth, because you can change your salary destination from ing after 2 times

I got this email from ING after simply depositing $1000 from another bank account

    Hi,
Great work on depositing your pay. You're all over it!

Don't forget to do it again next month by depositing your pay of $1,000+ to your Orange Everyday. If you've already shared your account details or the salary form with your payroll, there's nothing more you need to do. Sit back and relax.

In case you haven't done so already, activate this offer by 31 December 2023.

Not sure if this is a definite indication that you can just deposit from another bank account.

    • Would be interested to continue to hear from you if you did receive the $50 after your 2nd month's $1K deposit.

      • I got the $50 but I ended up switching my pay into ING anyway just in case. So can't say for sure this method works but maybe someone else can.

        • I simply deposited $1k in and out both months. Got paid.

          • +1

@noelhoi: Nice, good to know that works and ING doesn't actually check

    • How long after depositing did you receive the email?
Did it yesterday (through payroll) and nothing yet.. wondering if I can move the money to another account.
Can you deposit then move it right away or do you have to wait overnight?

      • +2

I got the email 5 days after depositing. I withdrew straight away. I assume you can withdraw since there's nothing about it in the terms

        • Thanks, I withdrew the money this morning and just got the same email :)

    • Thanks for the info. I suppose just dropping in $1k and taking it straight out again once a month (Oct/Nov) shouldn’t hurt. Especially if that actually triggers eligibility which will net us the $50 after a while.

    • Strange, I actually changed my salary to deposit into ING and have a confirmed deposit last month and this month and I haven't received any related emails. I activated the offer too

  • is just a drivers license enough to open the account online or do they get you to do a selfie and go to a post office?

Just transferred $1k and out immediately. Lets see where things goes

  • Anyone has got their cashback?
