University of Melbourne has done loads of research on air purifiers and their cost- effectiveness.
I was looking at air purifiers a few weeks ago and dyson was on the list until I saw this graph on how useless they are as an air purifier relative to what is on the market. I ended up buying a Samsung AX90:

Have a look at the above and read the links on air purifiers that are in there. Very good reading if you are after an air purifier
Thanks for sharing the link.
I'm also looking at the Samsung AX90. I've noticed the prices vary a lot. Where did you buy yours & how much did you pay?
Got mine through this deal:

Just be warned about the filter costs and make sure you're okay with this before buying
That was interesting, thanks for the link.

The Dysons are pretty useless as a fan too!
I quite like our Dyson fan. We use it in our study & it noticeably cools the room.
On a regular day, it seems fine.. but on warmer days, it seems to move jack-all air compared to a normal fan, let alone, something like a Vornado (which is way less than half the price).
@bobbified: During humid days & high temps, we use it to extend air flow from our split system & it works well.
I actually got it for safety reasons when the kids were little.
I have a Dyson fan (gifted to me) and would agree with this. It's fine at low speeds but if you need to crank it get something which has more kick, it isn't anything to write home about
