Hi, neighbour 8 approached us about replacing our shared back fence.
That would be "approx half my fence, cos we share it with 2 properties.
We're each probably getting quotes.
Any tips, advice, ideas? Timber or metal options etc?
Personally should we replace our entire back fence (means contacting other neighbour6 too), or will it be too messy working out;
Or only replace the section of N.8 now?
What would you do?
Does the fence need replacing or is it still in decent condition?
and what style have you got? same on all '3' sides?

(right side dividing fence in bad condition also to be replaced later.)
Left side is the taller timber standard.

portion with N6 somewhat decent just a gap at the very end. Same fence
i'd just be whacking screws in……
if you are going to replace and it's seen, I'd be matching the new to whatever the 'best' part of existing is as long as it is something you like. of course, if neighbour 8 is driving it and has something different on his sides then it will get harder

Screws won't hold for long, rail is stuffed and needs replacing.
Just pay for your portion. So if the total bill is $2000 for a 20m fence, and you share 8m, you would pay 50%x(8/20) or $400
will keep that in mind!
Then neighbour 6 won't want to replace half a fence and will approach your other neighbour to replace the rest of their fence. The job could grow exponentially until your entire block has new fences.

I’d be keen to replace the lot. You should only pay half of the 8 section. If N6 doesn’t play ball because ‘the fence is fine’ it might be worth paying for all of that section anyway. Doing half to e job now means you’ll be coming back later anyway.
