Optus Movie Rewards - $20 Gold Class Tickets (Event Cinemas, Birch Carroll and Coyle)

740

See below for cheat for non-Optus customers.

$20 Gold Class tickets for Optus customers

$20 includes the booking fee too.

Not valid after 5pm Saturdays and Public Holidays.

Cheap luxury :)

Expires October 20 and can't be used for presale (eg twilight).

The following workaround seems to be changed and doesn't work for now. Optus customers can still use the link above.
Thanks to sonicentropy and tko6070 for the cheat way around:
Change end of the URL &bookingsource=web to &source=optus

Should you mention that you need some sort of Optus account (mobile/home phone/internet)?

    • -1

Change end of the event cinema URL &bookingsource=web to &source=optus

      • Read the bold text in the description.

  • +2

go to the session you want change the url to show 'sessionid=3091720&source=optus'
    BAM, $20 gold class

  • Until the 20th of October..

  • cool, thanks

  • +1

not bad, staff GC tickets are $15

  • +5

Hopefully this will still be valid when Looper is released - looks like an epic movie :)

    • works for me.

  • +1

work around isnt working for me =(

i tried just replacing the "&bookingsource=web_sessions" to "&source=optus"

  • Yea the workaround doesn't work for me either. That is when selecting a movie for tonight.

    • Ditto!

      • Same

        • not working for Dark Night at Innaloo WA (wednesday)

  • +1

They seem to have changed the workaround and doesn't work unless coming from the Optus site. Obviously still works for Optus customers

  • Plus $3.50 booking fee per ticket, or maybe that's just 3d movies

    • Thats for 3D all optus ones calculate the booking fee into it.

  • +1

I just followed it from the Optus site and it has worked.

    Optus GC offer x$16.75=$33.50

    Booking Fees: 2x $3.25 =$6.50

    Number of Tickets=2

    Number of Seats=2

    Your Total Transaction Cost=$40.00
  • Damn… No Event Cinemas for Victorians :(

    • If it works like the GC tickets from AMEX, they apply to Village as well. Event is the parent company that owns Village, Birch & Carrol, and Greater Union. The AMEX tickets I bought were for Event but they worked at Village.

      Give it a try.

    • Technically Melbourne City Cinemas on Russell Street is an Event cinema but sadly no Gold Class

  • not working for me either

  • optus customer - check
loving the gold class - check
local gold class is an event cinema

    ARRGH! :O

    Ah well good deal OP

    • Is or isn't event cinema?

  • Does this work with a optus $2 sim pack?

    • Yep, just create an account with that phone number

  • Hmm… am an Optus ustomer, but all I see on that website is the std $10 ticket, plus some discounts on snacks. I can't see any $20 GC offer? I have tried Firefox & Chrome.

    • Same here. Are we doing something wrong??

    • +2

Go through the $10 step but look for Gold Class tickets and voila :)

      • Ahhhh good one, cheers mate.

      • I see what's happening now - only works if you select an Event Cinema. The "Optus GC offer" option does not show up for Village.

  • +1

    what's the regular price?

    • +1

      Up to $39 plus bf!

  • +1

Can someone PM me their Optus number so I can get in on some sweet sweet Gold Class action? I tried using my AMAYSIM number (that uses the Optus network) but doesn't work, you must have to be a direct customer.

  • im an optus customer joined up but all tix are 30 + booking fee…. any ideas anyone??

    • Still working here. If u change session u have to change through the Optus website, not Event Cinema's.

      • is it right in saying doesnt work for Victoria?

        • there are no event gold class cinemas in victoria so yes it's right

  • +2

Get the Gold Class Sundae! It's soooooooo gooooooood!

  • what's good about gold class?

    better seats?

    • yes, recliners :)

    • No young kids messing around, distacting mobile phones/iphones being checked every few mintues (ref. bright screens), people taking within the movie, etc, etc.

      • +4

But you getting people eating next to you with the sound of cutlery hitting the plates. Also the smell of the food. I actually find that annoying.

  • thank you Spackbace

Kids will be thrilled watching another movie in style rather than in front of the tv/pc/iphone/ipad/macbook :D

  • +5

Damn it, it looks like they've removed the optus workaround for all sessions, not just Gold Class. A lot of us had been using that for years :(

    • +1

Just get a $2 Optus sim card

    • I know. A sad day indeed :(

      • Yeah :(

    • +3

Could an Optus customer who knows what they are doing pull out the referrer from the http header?

      http://www.ehow.com/how_8786221_firebug-referrer.html

Odds are this is how they are checking.

    • What do you expect when people blatantly post workarounds so obviously on sites like this, thank you to everyone who ruined it!

and it doesn't work on optus prepaid, i tried and it said it was an invalid number - need to be with them a certain amount of time?

  • Does this work for greater union George street Sydney?

    • planning to see Looper on Thursday and use the trick &source=optus but all I see is GC special package for $70 for one ticket.

not sure what im doing wrong?

  • is gold class worth selecting at all in your opinion? i never experienced it before and even for the price of $20 im still hesitated. can you convince me? :) thanks

    • +1

Yes. At $20, it's only a couple of bucks more expensive than regular movies but you get really comfortable recliners, the cinema isn't crowded at all, there's no idiots talking/playing on their phone, you can order delicious fod (and it is delicious) to be delivered to your seat whenever you want it through the movie, you can order booze….it's far, far superior to regular cinemas.

      • thanks for the points

      • Hi, I've never been to gold class before, but have booked some tickets with this deal! How early do you have to order the food before the movie starts or do you order it during the movie. can you eat it in your seat? how early do you get there?

        • +2

Order it before, just get there 15-20mins before. Yes they bring it to you :)

    • Sure is, you'll never want to return to the regular cinemas once you experience GC :)

      • +1

im guessing that's one of the downside? once you go black you never go back.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong so this works any time and day except after 5pm Saturdays??? Cause when I tried to book for tomoro it says $25 for event cinemas for a non 3d movie.

    • $25 is the normal cheap tuesday tickets

  • -1

I put in a bogus phone number and somehow got accepted(They never confirmed), now Im watching Looper for $20 GC

  • +1

How did the $20 toicket fold class go through? For me it's still $39.90!!

  • I'm getting $90 for 2 tickets here:

    Show Details
Queen Live in Budapest '86: Hungarian Rhapsody (CTC) Wednesday 10 October
    Gold Class - Gold Class
    2 Alt Content $80.00
    Subtotal $80.00
    Booking Fee $10.00
    Grand Total $90.00

  • Iv absolutely tries every gold class movie from Monday to Sunday except Saturday, and still gives full price! U guys sure this even works? And yes I' have a Optus rewards account!!!

  • OK confirmed this is not working for village cinemas, so no VIC user can take advantage of this offer.

Confirmed valid for event cinemas in NSW.

  • +2

+ve from me, watched expendables 2 tonight =D

  • +1

Wow +58, pressure is on for my next deal when I find another :)

  • +3

onetime before the movie started it all went quiet and dark, i felt this pressure come from under me. i had to push it out. i can feel it getting closer and then all of a sudden pffffffttttttt!!!!! this loud fart explodes from my buttocks and fills the cinema atmosphere with this echo. everyone looks at me with as ^__^ and then just laughed. i told everyone it was marvin the cat.

    • One time I went to the cinema, a guy in the same row as me sh*t his pants. We didn't laugh.

      • +1

        was he watching paranormal activity?

  • can't book through chrome or internet explorer, works through dolphin HD on my phone after logging in.

    • turns out it was just my work computer! false alarm. also the 'RYDGES' promo code works for normal sessions and some VMAX.

      • Keep in mind that they will sometimes ask for a Rydges card.

free to sign up and get a card

        • Well, free to join and get a temporary card (which they should accept). To get a proper plastic card, you have to actually stay at a participating hotel.

But either way, make sure you remember to bring it with you if you use the RYDGES code :)

  • I got two tix for looper, Friday night at Doncaster village vmax. Turned out to be $11 per ticket and $1 booking fee, total $24 for 2 people. Couldn't find any looper ticket for gold class at $20. Still happy enough with the deal though!

  • Do you get free popcorn and soft drink at Gold Class?

  • +1

Just FYI guys if you book throught the mobile site for village (http://m.villagecinemas.com.au/) there is never any booking fee.

    • Apparently this has changed and there is now a booking fee for mobile site too.

  • Tried via the mobile site you linked blackface on - booking fee applied

    • Must have changed it then this financial year, cause it was be free like 2 months ago only on the mobile site, and like $2 online and $5 for phone bookings.

  • I just looked on the village website for session times, and it's $20 there too right now. Considering normal tickets are $18.50, this is a very good deal.

  • I used this offer to see looper on the weekend. Good movie gc wasn't bad but certainly not worth paying full price though.

  • Looks like theres a booking fee now… $25 all up

  • -1

Just randomly make up any number till it registers an account that's what I did and been at it for ages.

  • +1

    Looks like it's still working.
Includes advance screenings of Skyfall in late November
