eBay "Hacked" GC

I used 2 eBay GCs and a $5 voucher on 6 October to make a purchase. One GC had 0 balance after the purchase.

Today, I was about to make another purchase and found 0 GCs. So I chat with eBay and they reckon my second GC was hacked before I used it. I only quickly converted a Choice GC to eBay just before the purchase on 6 Oct and no one else was around. When I tried to put in the code again, it said the GC was linked to another account.

  1. How do I find the GCs I used on an eBay transaction? The customer service person reckoned I only used one GC on 6 Oct. I said it's strange it had the exact balance as the purchase down to the cents, less $5.

  2. Can eBay's systems screw up GCs like this?

Anyway they have frozen the "hacked" GC and I need to send proof of purchase for them to attach it to my account.

    Do you have multiple ebay accounts where you might have used both the gift cards?

    Very odd. You used some of the balance on the GC on Oct 6, so it should remain linked to that eBay account. I'm not sure what hacker could have done.

      That's what I thought. Yet eBay tells me I didn't use any of the balance. But I distinctly remember the other GC didn't have enough balance, hence I had to add the new swapped GC.

    There have been many instances of people losing giftcards when they attempted to input them. I would ask the rep to look up the history of the GC and see what it had been used for. Don't believe them if they say they can't do it because that's absurd.
