Boost Vs Woolworth Mobile (Telstra Vs Wholesale Telstra Network)

I know there's been posts about how full Telstra has more coverage than its wholesale network (in terms of area covered)

My question is, would Boost have a stronger reception generally, compared to Woolworth mobile? (Ie, in terms of the quality of the connection)

Say you're in the city, would Boost almost always have full bars, while Woolworth mobile be half to full sometimes?

And in a rural setting where both boost and Woolies does have network, would Boost have a stronger connection than Woolies?

Thanks!

I live rural and recently had a decent power outage (18+ hours).

My Boost mobile wouldn’t load anything at all on an iPhone 2020, figured due to the power outage the Telstra network was just overloaded. Connected to my Belong data SIM through wifi and right away got data access without issue.

Take from that what you will, as in reality it makes no sense to me.

    • Hahaha that's weird…

Yep, the reception with Boost is ‘better’ (or more accurately in certain areas it has service when the Belong SIM doesn’t have it) but after testing it during the power outage I was honestly surprised as. When I get back to ‘civilisation’ I won’t be bothering with Boost anymore.

My place is in a coverage hole, only telstra is somewhat reliable. Used to have Aldi, went to boost. I reckon the bars dropped by one with boost - but that's just my one anecdote, maybe tainted by some other expectation.
(The Wi-Fi calling makes up for it.)

I carry 2 phones at all times, one with Telstra (work) and the other woolies (personal) the only time in regional QLD my woolies reception dropped out my Telstra was also out. Both iPhone SE 2020 so a fair comparison. I highly rate my experience with woolies mobile for reception and value and am in year 3.

  • Different level of service on the same network in terms of speeds caps depending on plan and coverage based on the following maps.

If you want full Telstra coverage and no speed cap and a great deal go to JB Hi-Fi and get a full Telstra plan with a gift card as a reward for signing up.

Think you mean congestion (capacity) not reception (coverage)

I find Boost sustains better quality calls compare Woolworths, even both appear to have same reception (e.g 3 bars)

Never ever again foolworths sim… Bad as hell network. Made biggest mistake buying for guests. Boost is better
