Was looking for a 12-month prepaid deal was mine coming up for renew and found this Vodafone for those who needs. Works out to be $12.5 per month for 12.5GB data.
It's on 5G network and includes international calls & text. Though I could not find anything about international calls on their fact sheet.

  • I just bought a new 12m sim. If I bought this now, could I use it in 12 months time or do they have some sort of expiry?

I see no reason to buy it now and use in 12 month time. Theres plenty of deals between now and then. You might prefer different network down the track.

I am on this plan atm and there is no international call. I might switch to Boost Mobile next year if they roll out the esims.

Network issues on vodafone. You get 5G but works as 2G.

    • Vodafone isnt all that great but that comment is a stretch. Coverage can be good or bad depends on areas & network

      • I can understand but all the where i travelled i found it pretty annoying.

This was my experience( boost> Voda for 4 weeks> boost). It worked well enough at home and work where there is wifi.

Driving about and on public transport it was pretty awful compared to the Telstra network.

I would grab a smaller sim to try the network out before committing to a year.

    • I speed test between 300 to 600Mbps on 5G where on live on Voda, in fact it works better than Telstra in my area, which was a surprise.

    • Has always been Vodafail. Full bar but no traffic. Likely not enough backhaul

Also 2G us a goner 3G now but yes very slow

  • Sometimes I feel like these prepaid is much better value than the normal post paid?? Am I wrong?

    • Depends on the deal. Works out the handset cost on postpaid and the monthly plan vs the cost of purchasing a handset outright plus cheaper prepaid plan. Sometimes, prepaid has slightly better value but you have the freedom of moving networks wherever necessary. I’m

    • Mostly better value but that generally means either you have a phone already or will need to purchase your phone of choice upfront which doesn't suit everyone's financial situation so they go the post paid route on a phone and SIM plan.

    • If you are happy to BYO phone (buy your phones outright) as I tend to do nowadays, you can save a LOT of money on these prepaid deals. I've not paid more than $15/month in 4 + years now and haven't looked back (I don't need more than around 10GB PM).

  • any info on when we need to activate by?

Woolies has this on special at this price very often and you have 12 months from time of purchase.
    I did it last year.

    never vodafail

    • +2

Telstrafail is worse where I live so I guess it depends on your location.

  • Purchased and used over this year, needing to recharge start of Nov, would I have to port out and then back in?

  • Can anyone advise if a Voda customer can keep their current number if activating this sim? thanks

    • +1

If you are a current Voda customer you'll need to port out and back, the free Boost SIM is perfect for this.
Also, it looks as though we can get 15% back via Top Cash Back, has anyone else tried this?

      • thanks, good to know! :)

        • Did you manage to get 15% cashback tracked?
