I need to get some Sake for cooking and thought I may as well get some to drink too!
What recommendations do you guys have? Not looking for anything top shelf, but don't want cheap Smirnoff like quality!

@[Deactivated]: That makes more sense. Cheers
I misread the title and thought you were looking for a carpet python or something.
Not sure whether it was pest control or companionship, but I was excited to find out.
I'd recommend: Dassai 45
Looks the goods. Dan's doesn't have any near me unfortunately.
If you are interested in local, Australia’s first sake brewery Sun Masamune, producer of the Go-Shu Sake brand closed on 31 March 2021. The 2022 releases from craft sake brewery Melbourne Sake are apparently now available. Pending expert advice from Japanese chefs and foodies, I rate the supermarket stuff as fine for making teriyaki.
I'll check those out.
I rate this one, not too pricey and nice enough to drink.

That seems to be one of the only ones my locals have. Will give it a shot!
I see what you did there.
I was hoping someone would.
@stuffandthat: Sake it easy and enjoy the drink!
I don't mind this one: https://www.supersake.com.au/collections/hourai/products/hou…
Not sure why you want Sake for cooking, and sorry I dont know any.
But I always use Chinese cooking wine, the most economical and common one is ShaoXing, and easily available in any Chinese Supermarket.
Sake Tome
always check the manufacturing date of the sake as you want it to be "fresh" - i.e. less than a year old.
I quite like this one https://tokyomart.com.au/products/komedake-no-900ml but I haven't explored too many. For cooking, if the recipe calls for mirin (cooking sake), use mirin - it's a lot cheaper.
Any Japanese food or ingredients can be found here.

Bought sake a few times as well
I'm too easy to please with sake, I haven't had one I didn't like. Including one that I'm pretty sure shouldn't have been very good that I got off Amazon. It came in a carton, like orange juice.
I used to really like the Go-shu Australian sake, but they closed down in 2021. :(
I too miss Gro-Shu, cheap enough to cook with and good enough to drink.
No recommendations for drinking sake, but you should note that Japanese Cooking Sake has salt added to it so that it's undrinkable as-is (but don't let me stop you from taking up the challenge), and so that it can be sold without the alcohol taxes.
