Which Ombudsman/Body Oversees Delivery Companies?

Just wanting to know what company oversees delivery companies?

Currently being taken for a ride by ANC and Samsung.

Ordered a monitor from Samsung, got a great deal. Set delivery for a preferred date (06/10). Get a text on (02/10) from ANC saying it was coming between 7am and 7pm on the 6th. So I took that day off work and got it covered.

Checked the tracking today. Said its coming on the 10th. I hit up Samsung. They tell me that the date you pick is only estimated. I said thats fine but they contacted me saying the 6th. How am I supposed to receive it if I work full time? And when I take the day off its just changed without any warning. No text or call.

As per their website, "We will endeavour to deliver on your preferred date however; if this date is not available, we will provide you with alternate dates via phone call or SMS."

No phone call or text. They refuse to help, say its up to the carrier. Call them. They say it was always due for the 10/10 on their end. I ask how Im supposed to receive it if I work full time. They say I have to talk to Samsung. Incredibly rude support and cut me off before I could explain the situation.

Who do I report this absolute shambles to?

And another self entitled person thinking they are the most important person in the world and nothing else matters.

What do you want the company that oversees this to do about it?

Just go to work like normal and pick it up at the post office when there is no one there to receive it, or pick it up from your front door step when they leave it there, or get a refund when it is left at your front door and someone steals it.

    • -2

Someone has to be present for delivery or they wont leave it.

They leave 0 options for full time workers besides taking the day off. And when you do they change the date without contacting you

      • +7

So they don’t leave it, and you pick it up from the post office or drop off point, like every other full time worker does. Wtaf???

        • +1

Its a giant delivery, not a parcel. It doesnt go to a pickup point or post office.

          • +12

@AusDaniel: It’s a monitor mate, not a french door fridge.

But do enlighten me, what makes you so sure that what I have said will happen, won’t happen?

            • -3

@jackary: Yeah you know best man. Its a 49 inch monitor. Ill just grab it from Aus Post.

They only offer rescheduling. On monday-friday.

              • +3

@AusDaniel: I do know best. For I am the source of all wisdom.

IME I’ve had a 50 inch tv left at my local news agent before. It certainly happens. A 49” ultrawide (I assume it is ultrawide) really isn’t that big.

It seems like you only have one option. Unfortunately, complaining on a forum or bleeting ACCC to some poor overseas call agent isn’t going to change the options available to you.

I still think there’s decent odds that they just dump it on your doorstep regardless of what you’ve been told on the phone.

          • +2

@AusDaniel: You'll be fine mate, I've had way bigger packages left for collection at the post office or somewhere similar. If they accept it for transport, they'll also accept it for holding

      • Then just work as normal and keep saying that you were home but no one was knocking just to (profanity) with them a couple of times, then come back in a week and we can think of a better solution.

        • Id love to do that. But I did some reading on the company (ANC Delivery) which I didnt know they used prior. All other Samsung deliveries had been startrack.

They will make you wait months and months. Their reviews are truly abysmal

          • +2

@AusDaniel: It is Samsung's job to deliver it to you, not the delivery company's. I would not be waiting months and months, I would be getting a refund at that point.

            That's Startrack

            • +1

@bdl: I wouldn't trust Startrack as far as I could throw Australia Post.
They are one entity now, proving that shit + shit will always equal greater shit.
It's quite ironic the OP is asking about calling an OS carrier to accountability when we can't even do it at home, to the main carriers.Even if the local Postal Ombudsman dealt with OS orgs, the result would be the same cotton wool flailing into nothingness that 'self regulated' ombudsman deliver. Aka SFA

    • Correct
Nobody told OP to stay home. OPs choice.

    Ozbargain.

  • Must feel good to get that off your chest.

    • -7

Honestly? Ive worked for a big tech company before. I get that little things might seem insignificant at the time. But for me. Ive already wasted a days leave. And Im being offered no solutions by the companies that (profanity) around

Regulatory bodies such as the ACCC have clamped down on companies shady practices before. And the mention of them often keeps them in line. But delivery companies seemingly do whatever they want

      • +2

Ive already wasted a days leave

        Sick leave or annual leave?

        • +11

Parcel receiving leave, doesn't everyone get that?
          .

@Nugs: Chatting to my union rep now.

            • +2

@MS Paint: You'll have to use a proxy union rep, union rep is at home taking delivery of Sea Container of Chinese made Eureka flags.ANC

      • +1

It was your choice to take the day off. Nobody asked you to, you can't blame anyone for that

        • -1

Im not saying it is mate.

Im saying the ONLY option to receive a delivery from ANC is to be home on the day. And the only time I get to be home during a work day is leave

      • -1

        Poor baby
Go and cry in the corner and stop wasting our time please.

Just wanting to know what company oversees delivery companies?

Wouldn't matter if it was the most powerful agency in the world, your complaint isn't even worthy of a 'we appreciate your message' response post card.

Get it delivered, don't be home, organise to collect it from their depot. Or organise for a re delivery as you'll now be dealing directly with the courier and they have the product (not waiting on Samsung to get it to the first leg)

Taking days of leave to sit around waiting to receive parcel deliveries for items which are 'carryable' seems wasteful.

    • I tried this. They dont have a pickup point and will not leave it.

Its more akin to a TV or Fridge delivery service

    • No doubt OP probably said he was SICK to get the day off.

  • Wait till you get it. Then>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>bikies

"Taking days of leave to sit around waiting to receive parcel deliveries for items which are 'carryable' seems wasteful."

Should organise with work to deliver it there or something..

Another first world problem - it's called the age of entitlement

  • +8

The power move is to get it delivered to your workplace.

    • yep, I once had a trampoline delivered to work.
      Thats true work/life balance :)

    • Get out of here with your logic brendanm

      • Sorry, I'll show myself out 😐

    • Then you can proudly walk around the office with it !!

    • +1

When we were 5 days a week years ago the amount of personal packages being delivered for everyone outweighed the work related deliveries.
Was convenient because someone was always there to receive your package and put it on your desk.

  • +2

ANC as in Australian national couriers?

Could be worse, could be Aramex or Hunter Express.

  • +2

Unfortunately this is what you get for buying direct from Samsung. Wait until you have to return it!

  • Reach out to the Post Master General on their socials… be aware delivery may occur before they respond.

  • +2

another post on ozb that just shows how detached from reality alot of people really are

  • Who the (profanity) needs a 49 inch monitor

    • +1

      ANC Courier :)
