These are excellent monitors, but they are monitors, not your average loudspeaker like Edirols. (I have these and the 308s, about to sell one set, not sure which yet as I don't need both.)

    • what is this edirols

    • These or krk rokit?

These are streets ahead of the consumer-grade KRKs (no yellow cone, though)

  • Had these for 8 years or so. Absolutely amazing, love the punch these pack. They are amazing especially for the price.

  • Very exceptional value choice before starting to pay significantly more.

  • For those that have these. Do you need a sub or do these have enough bass? Cheers

The Adam Audio T5V can be had for around $500 new. They blow these JBLs out of the water. I am yet to hear anything remotely close in quality for the price.

    • I have T7Vs and regret buying them because they hiss too much. Maybe some day I'll open them up and mod them with l-pad attenuators. They are already more than loud enough with the volume adjusted down to the point where the hiss no longer gets quieter. Maybe T5Vs are better.

  • there is decent bass. but if u listen to alot of bass heavy tracks i suggest adding an active sub

These are the best 5" monitors still available today. BUT! As others have said, If you're seeking an amazing, audiophile-like, listening experience, these really aren't it. These monitors have a clearer sound than any monitors I've ever used (quite the range, even some really high-end equipment). However, the LSR310S sub is a deliberate pairing by JBL with the 305P's, thus the lack of low-end and the sub can be fairly pricey. Even if you go with an alternative. Have never seen the LSR310S for less than $700AUD.

These serve as my secondary monitors to my Focal Alpha 8"s. Truly adore them nearly a decade later. Great for mixing.

  • For anyone who was almost tempted by these at $429 (like I was).

Ebay Plus users can buy them for $372.67 (delivered) here: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/390722482841

  • I've read many threads on these which consistently report that they hiss and aren't great for casual use as a result.

    • No, this applies to all active speakers and monitors. There will always be hiss if you increase the volume enough.

      • No what? I've read that these specific speakers have a particularly annoying hiss which makes them unsuitable as daily drivers rather than for critical listening/actual studio use.

Buying studio monitors as daily drivers isn't too bright in the first place.
