Haldiram's in available in Woolworths. Funny part is when I opened box of Haldiram's from Woolworths, inside it was printed Packed for Coles

      • 😝

  • which one is the best?

    • +2

Depends on your taste buds and spice tolence level my family likes onion paneer parantha. Naan is pretty good too

    • Those Batata Vada are good, spicy potato balls.
Haven't been a reasonable price for a while this stuff.

    • I usually keep aloo paratha (potato&spices in bread) and the naan in my freezer. Theyre great for a quick lunch, fry an egg, chop some red onion and tomato, add your go to sauce and youre done.

The samosas and the dal makhani are my picks

  • Available in NSW

  • Give Dal Makhni a go if you haven't tried it out before.

My workplace smells like these things all the time. Its ruined my appetite for Indian food.

    • +3

Even if you find employment on the Moon or Mars, it'd smell like Indian food 😂

    • Brampton moment

I wish my work kitchen smelled like this, far better than someone reheating fish in the microwave.

  • Sabrini was ½ price last week in Coles in Victoria but online only

    • +1

Sabrini Chilli Milli is the best of all the Indian frozen snacks. By a mile.

  • Bhaji is spelled wrong in the title.

  • I like the spinach pakora

  • "Artificial chemicals like msg or preservatives."

People really need to stop the MSG witch hunt. MSG is not artificial and is naturally occuring in many of your everyday foods including tomatoes.

Look up chinese resturant syndrome if you want to know why the MSG myth exists.

    • +1

A lot of people are sensitive to it, and whilst it’s naturally occurring, in its refined form and added to different foods it can cause symptoms in some people. I find it affects my sleep, I still don’t completely avoid it though.

      • +2

Yet the people who claim to have an MSG aversion eat KFC, Doritos and 100s of other products with MSG. Such bs

        • Yeah both of those things stuff me around, Even kewpie, or Lao Gan Ma Chilli Oil,( which I love) can do it. I wonder if it’s got something to do with whether you ate it in childhood, a lot of sensitives occur if something is avoided completely in childhood. My parents were completely against it, to the point of reading ingredients on everything, so perhaps once I started eating it it bothers me more than someone who grew up eating it.

          • @morse: Google chinese resturant syndrome.

            • @Boneh: I’m well versed in this topic. Food sensitives can exist despite these theories also have relevance. Two things can be true at the same time.

    • well it may be a myth but most of the stuff doesnt have many other chemicals also

    • I guess msg is fine in small amounts but the main problem is it's super high and sodium and addictive mate. There are also healthier ingredients to use in cooking generally.

Anything in high doses is bad for you. Drink too much water and it can kill you. Im a nutrionist so i am sick of seeing MSG demonised due to a racist history. It has 1/3 the sodium of salt and can be used like any other ingredient. There are no proven health issues with MSG outside of what we know about salt.

        • You can think what you like.. take any packet of instant noodles ie. Shin ramen - sodium is 1840mg. As you would know, your Daily rdi is around 1500mg (or some say 2300mg), either way you shouldn't have any other salt for the whole day. Those things are addictive as I mentioned, same goes for most processed snacks. The only reason they use msg is it's just a cheap flavouring.

          • @G-rig: I dont understand the point youre trying to make. High sodium cheap food is high in sodium? Shocker.

            Dude educate yourself.

            • @Boneh: That is exactly the point bro
It's all contained in cheap junk food.
Shouldn't need to add msg DUDE
And you call yourself a nutritionist.

              • @G-rig: Youre missing the point. MSG is not only contained in cheap food….. that would be like picking any common ingredient then demonising it because it is used to cheap food.

There have been 100s of studies published in medical journals disproving negative health claims on MSG the fact that it can be found in junk food does not make the ingredient inherently bad. As I said anything in excess is bad. You know what else is common in all low quality junk food. Salt. Yet it is needed for the human body to function.

                • @Boneh: Yeah it's all relevant and been said before, i agree msg has a bad stigma, but it's not a health food, just consider it like table salt qsb you say. Just reminds me of a dirty cheap Chinese restaurant .. and instant food.

No harm in using Cleaner herbs and spices if you know how to cook.

                  • @G-rig: Thats just personal bias "dirty cheap chinese resturant"

I never claimed it was a health food nor does it need to be. But comparing apples to apples its healither than straight salt and is actually recommed for people on low sodium diets. Espically to help ween people off high salt food.

You'd be amazed to know how many high end resturants use MSG in almost all their dishes.

However you're entitled to your own opinion and i respect that you understand the stimga.

                    • -1

@Boneh: No decent restaurant would mate.
Everyone thinks it's cool since uncle Rodger is bringing it back..

Anyway you are also correct, if you had it occasionally it wouldn't matter.

Low sodium diets.. it's easy to get it if you aren't even trying.

              • +1

@G-rig: Nutritionist isn’t a protected title in Australia. Dietitians are the ones with an approved qualification that you’ll find working in hospitals and that can be referred to by a doctor and receive Medicare and private health insurance rebates. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist in Australia. There’s a bunch of bogus colleges that sell nutrition certificates and diplomas, as well as some more established institutions, but you don’t even need one of these . Literally anyone can call themselves a nutritionist and start giving out diet advice (or even charging for it) - so pretty much anyone on OzB giving their 2 cents is a nutritionist.

                • +1

@morse: Yeah they are everywhere on YouTube, everyone is an expert. Don't get me started on the low carb and carnivore nutters.. so many fad diets around.

I like to follow o science and evidence based information, no those social influencers with no credentials.

  • I feel like I picked up some of those in the Shattered Sanctum the other day…

  • Is the 16 pack Tandoori Naan any good?

    • Definitely worth it
