Ha you fixed your typo…
7.1kg portable
Will JB price match and possibly use gift cards ?
they won't because they have the newer model now
What’s the diff w newer model?
I think it's pretty much just the replaceable battery? Not 100% sure but I do know that is a difference.
@bunnybash: You can replace the battery in this one…but need a screwdriver.
There's alot of new features
this is an older model
I was looking for a good karaoke speaker, and looks like this might be a great speaker for that, does anyone know what is a good mic setup for use with this for a home karaoke setup
Plus the SM58A Beta is great with better shock protection, higher sensitivity and greater side feedback protection. Both great mics.
Can anyone suggest whats the output wattage of these speakers? Amazon says its only 10 W. If thats correct can I use it for any outdoor gig? I am looking to buy speakers for outdoor performances! Any pointer on that will be greatly appreciated!
I also saw that Amazon list it as 10W. I don't reckon it's 10W. Surely has to be more than that.
I have seen it quoted at 160W RMS. Power consumption figure seems to be 150W. I think at least 100W in the most conservative sense. Quite reasonable for solo performance, or even just to get a vocal above the rest of a band.
Yep, 150W is printed on the IEC input port.
My batch date was 12/03/2022, my first S1 Pro was back in 2019!
Thanks OPwould the bose speaker or jbl partybox 1000 have better audio quality?
Sorry, can't advise on personal experience, but I have read up on each. I have just ordered one of these S1's because the portability combined with some pro-audio features really grabbed me (I have quite a lot of PA equipment from band days, but now I have no need for the large and heavy 'front of house' gear these days).
The JBL strikes me as more of a consumer device, whereas the S1 appears to be aimed at musicians/professional use. The PartyBox has flashy lights, and quotes an outrageous 1100W RMS - a very rubbery figure given that its consumption is 150W on par with the Bose (quoting such high audio power outputs is more of a consumer audio thing).
The JBL PartyBox is very heavy and large. The Bose is quite a lot lighter, and much smaller.
I suspect the JBL will go louder, and have more bass extension. I fully expect the Bose to have a more controlled output, and perhaps provide greater clarity for vocal/guitar.
The JBL offers inputs consistent with home audio and DJ gear (RCA stuff), whereas the Bose offers TRS/XLR combo inputs and is capable of accepting mic and instruments.
They are very different beasts…pick one based on your needs. If you want to host a backyard dance party and drive the sound, go with the JBL. If you want to plug in your acoustic guitar and a mic and play a local cafe, go with the Bose.
Thanks for your detailed comment, Bose sounds like the best option for me. thanks again :)

I should add, I don’t think this would be the best option for backing tracks outdoors where the speakers need to move a lot more air for bass. The solo vocal/guitar thing should be fine though.
Reading up a little more…I think this JBL EON unit is probably more on par with the market segment the Bose targets https://www.storedj.com.au/jbl-eon-one-compact-battery-power…. If they were the same price I’d have to seriously consider the JBL.
So many options these days! I wish this gear was available 10-15 years back.
How would this go just playing music at a function in the backyard. At this price point it appears hard to pass up.
Sounds like you're just after something to play background music. I reckon this would work well.
Just received mine. Played various tracks through it, and it was decent. Some tracks shone more than others. I suspect for pre-recorded music alone, there might be better options (though probably not at this price, which is still active I must say even though this deal is marked expired as at 1:30pm 10/10).
What really impressed me was when I plugged my guitar directly into it (an Epiphone Ultra-339, which has a sort of acoustic-ish simulation via a nanomag pickup mounted at the base of the fretboard). I am very impressed by the clean performance through this little speaker - it sounds very nice to my ear. The reverb is quite nice, and I could easily see this as an excellent live performance tool for acoustic/vocal use, or to get a voice up over an ensemble.
I am quite tempted to get a second at this price. They can apparently be run in stereo from bluetooth using the app, or of course you could feed two S1's with a small mixer. I think if one had a small powered subwoofer to go with these, they could even do a slightly more demanding gig. Flexibility!
I bought this cooler bag to carry the speaker. Currently $39.99 for Prime Day.
Limited-time deal for Prime Members: INSMEER Cooler Backpack, 36 Can Leakproof Cooler Bag with 2 Compartments/Bottle Opener/Comfort Shoulder Pad/Elastic Rope for Blanket, 25L Lightweight Soft Backpack Cooler Camping Hiking https://amzn.asia/d/8ogebIXSlightly cheaper than the Bose slip cover and way cheaper than the backpack. There are also custom bags on ebay for $50-60 but they're not backpacks. I wanted a backpack for versatility. And if going for a picnic, it can be used as originally designed.
Good call. I bought the cover slip, but it's underwhelming for the price. Decent fabric, but only one layer. Wish it was like my AER Domino cover slip, which is padded and I seem to remember came with the amp.
The cooler bag from Amazon has arrived and unfortunately, the bag does not match the size mentioned in the description. The 24cm depth is closer to 19cm.
The S1 Pro does slip in but the bag can't be zipped up completely.
I've returned the cooler bag and went on to Aliexpress where there is a custom bag with 2 side pockets and an additional 2 round pockets for mics. Quality is good. The cushioning is OK with a bit of foam protection. Could be thicker but it's totally fine if you are not rough carrying it around. Cost was $43 posted.
@lomie: do you have a link to said Aliexpress bag?
These are beasts with great inputs, been using one for years
