With respect, Sony also upped the RRP and only after doing that 2 and a bit years in, did they ever put their thing on sale.

For a system with very few distinct games and one that really pushes a subscription service, you’d think it would be a lot cheaper than this.
They’d sell a hell of a lot more if this was say $599 and make up the difference with their subs.
There is already a budget minded Xbox.
Which is $100 too expensive itself.
You can regularly get the XSS for as low as $400.
@sallan75: At this point with how badly Microsoft are doing they should drop the X s S to a fixed $300 and the X s X to like $499 as a base price. It'd be the only way they could become competitive again
@Spendmore: Their gaming revenue was $16B US last financial year. Not as good as Sony, but hardly doing badly.

Microsoft started to hide unit sales of consoles, so it's hard to know for certain. But it's estimated that PS5 sells 2:1 to Xbox X and s combined.
Of course switch has sold like 3x as many ps5s and 6-7x as many Xbox.

The better the sales the higher the likelihood of me having a good experience for years to come.
Like if I bought a Dreamcast back in the day I'd be pissed that they stopped supporting it after 2 years since it didn't get enough sales.
When it comes to consoles you want the system to succeed because that means more games for you. More development, more unique games, etc.
Shame there is no better alternative!
I think, as a whole, miscrosoft will be fine. You're a consumer, no need to worry about how they're performing
