First post be blah blah blah.

Karcher K4 Compact from Amazon UK, but via Amazon AU.
Seems that best bricks and mortar I've found is $519 at SCA and $520 at Karcher AU.
Hammerbarn etc don't seem to stock the Compact.

7L / min max flow rate, 6.7 L/min normal flow rate.
Water cooled motor. I think this just comes with gun and 2 wands.

No accessory needed to fit Karcher accessories.

Still not cheap enough for my blood I don't think, so I'm waiting for the next decent Bosch Aquatak deal, or my AliExpress Ozito-Karcher adaptor to arrive.

Edit: Clarified the flow rates as per https://www.kaercher.com/au/home-garden/pressure-washers/k-4…

How does this compare to the Aldi High Pressure Washer… $149.00 (7th Oct)

    • +6

      It’s good…different!

    • +1

That's an impressive cheap pressure washer.

      Aldi 7.5 L/min. Karcher K4 7.0 L/min.
      Aldi 8m hose. Karcher K4 6m hose.

The Karcher K5 Compact comes with a 8m hose. But the K5 costs about $550 at SydTools I think.

The Aldi might be using a Lavor style plug (which apparently the older Workzone ones used to use), so it may be able to use a similar adaptor to the ozito to maybe take gerni and Karcher accessories.

      • +3

Keep in mind Karcher tends to advertise actual (or close to it) flow rate. Aldi is advertising ‘max flow rate’ which can be quite deceptive. Usually in the manual it has actual flow rate, but I can’t find that for aldi one.

For example the Gerni 5000 from the green shed advertises 8.7L/min max flow rate (woah that’s great!), and then you open the manual and the ‘rated flow rate’ is 5.8L (seriously).

No idea if Aldi do the same or not, but just be aware when you see ‘max flow rate’ it can often be to hide something.

        • Good point. The ozito is something like 6.0 actual, but 7.3 max

I'd be interested to know who is the OEM of that aldi.
It looks a bit like a VEVOR.

      • The specs for the Aldi Ferrex High Pressure washer are:

        Rated/operating pressure 11 MPa / 1595 PSI
Max. permissible pressure 15 MPa / 2175 PSI
        Max. inflow pressure 0.4 MPa
        Inflow temperature max. 50 °C
Working flow rate, water 6 L/min
Max. working flow rate, water 7,5 L/min
        Weight approx. 9.5 kg

    • And I really wonder if/what Hammerbarn is going to discount to try to match it.

      • I think this is hammerbarn's price matching effort.

A higher rated ozito with more accessories, that actually has a lower standard rated flow (5.6L) than the cheaper lower rated $99 ozito (5.8L).

Any early aldi addicts had a close look at the aldi Ferrex one by any chance?

    • I don't know but aldi electronic items are notoriously hard to get warranty on?

      • +1

        Return and refund…..

        • Yeah I've never had a problem with Aldi. I thought they had a good reputation for warranty issues.

        • I once had something small. I can't really remember that something $50 maybe. It had a fault but I couldn't return it Because they need some special person to deal with electronics And the person was out. Not that they wouldn't do it. Just that nobody else was allowed to deal with it.

And had to visit several stores a few times before that person was in. Ever since then, I've avoided anything electrical.

    • omfg.

    • Doesn't fill you with confidence does it.

  • Plastic or brass pump?

    • All I've seen says "water cooled pump". So think that's advertising speak for plastic. Happy to be educated further on this though.

    • +2

The K2, K3 & K4 pumps are made from a Patented material made by Karcher called N-Cor "Non Corrosive". It is made of a composite material Polyamide and glass fibre.

I bought Karcher K3 in 2018. Over these years I used less than dozen times. So far they repair water leak. Second time they replaced the whole machine, third time they replaced the whole machine. Now it is out of warranty and still in box. I understand that K2 & K3 models are air cooled, but K4 and above models are water cooled, so not sure if they are more reliable!! But to buy from Amazon UK without the 5 years local warranty is definitely not good idea..

    • Noted. The high failure rates u hear about do concern me.

      • I've got a k3 and love it. Not sure if air-cooled but I've had it on cleaning driveway a couple of times and generally use it every couple of weeks. Probably bought around the same time 2018

  • Just buy a Kranzle that will last you a decade

    • Yeah sure, $1000+…
