This is a great deal on the HARIO Immersion dripper Switch (was $78 at one time previously).
For those who don’t know, these are a V60 with a mechanism that blocks the flow of water to allow some immersion during the blooming. Never used it myself but people seem to like them.

Good find, very versatile brewer. If you need a pouring kettle the hario air kettle is $12.
If you need more filters I recommend cafec T90.

    Is it Nintendo original accessory?

You're thinking of the Mario Switch Immersion Dripper :)

    • That you @jv?

    • +3

My thoughts exactly. I'm guessing you put it above your game seat and it drips water on you when your character gets wet, hence building the immersion.

Thanks just watched James Hoffman's video on it.

Do paper filters have an use by date? They will last me 9.589 years at the rate I'm drinking pour overs…

      • The expiry date for paper filters is usually 9.590 years.

        • That wasn't a joke…I only drink pour overs on sundays

Just brought one over from Japan for the same price.
    Cool…

I still have absolutely no idea what this product does 😂

      Coffee

    • +5

I thought it was for the garden at first.

    • +1

Normally the water just goes through the coffee and comes out the bottom, but this model blocks it from coming out the bottom until you press the button, which makes a different taste.

  • +1

I thought this said halo. Good deal anyways!

  • Have been using this everyday. Very easy to use and clean.

  • Ok for us expresso snobs, what's the process to make a flat white. How good is the coffee? Would an expresso lover have a use for this?

    • +6

      This won't produce espresso

    • +6

This is less express, more patience

    • +3

Pour over produces a vastly different cup of coffee - way less intense, and espresso drinkers would consider it watered down. The beans typically used are also lighter roast.
Certainly can’t make a flat white or latte with it. It’s more for the long black or Americano drinkers that like a lighter, more brighter (ie more acidity) brew.

    • In all seriousness, this is a very different coffee type than espresso. It’s largely meant for straight black (hot or cold) or with just a dash of non-steamed milk. It’s for enjoying the subtleties of coffee flavours rather than the bold intensity and body of espresso.

But, as with any food, there’s a multitude of ways to make and enjoy coffee from one of these. Think of it as a departure from the norm that takes you in a new direction. If you don’t like anything other than flat whites or lattes then you might want to just stick to espresso.

Is expresso just really fast espresso?

      • +3

        espresso makes me expresso

Bought now, think later. Thanks OP.

Get size 03 instead, more versatile especially when making larger amount of coffee the immersion way..

  • Tempting but do I need this if I got an aeropress alr? Immerse and slowly push with aeropress will have similar effect? Thanks

    • +1

Aeropress creates a different flavour to v60. They’re both immersion brews (at least when the Switch is closed) but one uses gravity and the other pressure to move the water through the puck / coffee bed.

      • Fair enough. Thanks. Now the question is for me haha can I really tell the difference. Haha

So this device is kind of 2 in 1? Immerse and regular pour over? Thanks

        • +1

The answer is no. You can't really tell the difference.

        • I wouldn't say you would be able to taste a difference unless you're james hoffman

    • Overall pretty similar.

    • For me in a caravan, the aeropress, particularly with the flow control cap is ideal.

The coffee is good, certainly no espresso, but much more flavor and strength then pour over.

It's light and easy to store. In particular, the puck is compressed and very easy to eject straight into the bin. Coffee grounds made a real mess of my drainage in the van. I've never used anything except the aeropress since then

    • Hario V60 Immersion Dripper 03, Size, Clear https://amzn.asia/d/dOSKVeu

Bigger one is $50 with filters. Wonder if we should have this instead

      • +2

I bought size 03 with filters for $35.
Handy if you like the flexibility between making small and large batch.

        • $50 is a good price for the size 03. Where did you get it for $35?

I've been holding out for a good deal on the 03.

@Peel: Same seller as this one.
