Found this in my Inbox and seems like a pretty good deal.

    I have no clue why anyone would want to trade a 160GB for a 12GB. Unless your unit is on deaths door.

    what a rip off so they want you to trade a almost new * i say this coz the 320 and 160gb models are fairly recent models
    which are retailing for $350 *just for the console     for 200 $ then you pay an extra $98 for a smaller i assume memory stick

    $300 for a 12gb? lolno. Is there anything to justify getting this over a slim? Right now the price for the cheaper version is absolutely horrible.

      Yeah, seems like they've increased the price (based on that I fairly recently paid $225 for 160GB slim) and made the unit absolute bare bones. Unless some amazing package deals come along there is no motivation to "upgrade" from a 160GB slim. I'd be holding out for Target, Kmart, and Big W Xmas packages and forget about EB.

    Still only makes sense if you want the extra controller / some games.

      maybe "= $98" rather than "- $98" would have been better.

          I'm not sure about this model, but the slim and the phat model you could swap the hard drive out. So unless the Wii U supports that, and not just SD cards it's not comparable.

          However, the Wii U only expands to external HDDs via USB (2.0 most likely). PS3s you can add an internal SATA HDD, which is far more elegant than having another device dangling off it (and possibly faster also). External HDD attached to a console is very ghetto and IMO is inexcuseable in 2012. Why can't they make room for an internal, or just include one?

    You have to be a fool to trade in your perfectly fine and working PS3 160GB and give them $200 for this. You don't gain anything new except an upgrade in HDD space (which you can get cheaper by switching the drive yourself).

    Come to think of it, any trade in deal at EB is a rip off.

      $198 for two games that they sell for $186 combined ($88 (Borderlands 2) and $98 (FIFA 13)) and the major hard drive upgrade is not too bad. Enough people purchase games through EB anyway to make it a worthwhile deal.

      I thought $198 for a warranty refresh, latest design, 2 extra genuine wireless controllers and 2 games (1 brand new) was pretty good.

      2x controllers cost $49 ea
      Borderlands2 will cost $89

      Seems legit to me?

        I highly recommend you check out ozgameshop. In other words, start importing your PS3 games as you'll save a small fortune.

    At EB games you could buy the 160gb slim PS3 preowned for $209. So you could possibly purchase that and trade it in to essentially get a 500gb HDD upgrade, 2 games and a controller free?

      what sort of maths did you use?

      $209 for the pre owned PS3

      $399 for the new 500GB PS3

      so thats 209-399 = $190
