I Think I Missed out on The QLD Electricity Rebate When Switching Providers

I have been switching electricity providers quite frequently to take advantage of the credit and/or lower rates. However I noticed that I have yet to receive the $700 cost of living electricity rebate as announced
https://www.qld.gov.au/community/cost-of-living-support/conc…

Has anyone got the rebate? I am sure its not paid as lump sum but it says 2023/2024.

So far this year I have been with OVO, powershop, Origin, AGL and will move to one more if I can find another $75 credit. This will allow me to average out my electricity rates to aprox $100 per month.

  • The first $150 was applied in this quarter, reach out to your current provider to see if it will be applied to your next bill

Check your old accounts, mine n NSW was in my last providers account as a credit, I was able to withdraw it

I switched providers on 7 July & haven't received mine yet (monthly billing). I understand that they need to apply it quarterly, so I was waiting until my final bill of the quarter before I ring up and complain. If it goes to the other provider then I guess I'll need to contact them and get it paid to me.

  • I'm in the exact same situation.
I switched from Alinta to Energy Australia in late-July but my new account was back-dated to the 4th of July for some reason.
I rang Energy Australia a couple of weeks ago, but they were no help at all, as the call centre operator had no idea what I was talking about.
I then rang Alinta and, after some time on the phone, they advised that they would process the request for me, as my account was with them on July 1st.
However, I just rang them today to see where this was at, only to be told that their request was declined. Apparently the rebate was originally attempted towards the end of July, but my account was already closed with them.
It feels like we've fallen through the cracks when we change providers, but there must be a lot of us, given so many changed providers around that time due to price hikes.

  • It is $550 for regular households and paid as $137.5 each quarter for 4 quarters.

  • I got my first bill with my new provider and the quarterly rebate was applied, despite not previously showing as credit on my account.

Hopefully the rest of you get it applied on your bill without any further effort.

  • I've been trying to swap to a new provider. But Alinta won't refund the amount and it's sitting there in credit due to solar.
