Hoping Amazon matches - my local stores are sold out most of the time

    • Raincheck

      • I got some today as the store did not have the special price tag.

I prefer it over soy or almond, but sadly it contains about half as much protein as cows milk, so not the best for protein shakes.

    • 0.6g protein per 100g is weak

I add protein powder……for more protein per protein

One thing to note with the Vitasoy oat milk is that unlike a lot of the fancier barista brands (e.g. Oatly and Minor Figures), it is calcium fortified, even in the standard version (they also have a calci-plus variant that gets even closer to the calcium of ordinary moo juice).

    • Do you have a link to the Vitasoy Calci-Plus Oat milk, I on thought they had the Calci-Plus on the Soy milk

      • Ah you are right, looks like the calcium enhanced oat milk is an export product only.

My stomach and partnet thanks you for this OP.

This makes the best hot chocolates, better than normal milk imo. Highly recommended.

  • I love oat milk but the protein is kinda low so i need to go from oat milk for few days and then soymilk for few days

  • HTF have the supermarkets been allowed to put up the price of cow's milk (billions of litres produced per year) to now be just as expensive per litre as this niche product.

3L's of Coles own brand milk now costs $4.80 and I'd love to know how much of that goes to the farmers.

      Holy crap

Literally bought 3 litres couple days ago and was $4.50
Checked the app, and yep …..$4.80

In August 2021 it was $$3.59 for 3 litres, so it's gone up 34% in two years.

All the shoppers in Oz need a "Voice to Parliament" and start demonstrating to call out to the Pollies the BS inflation figures that are published, and also decide if it's acceptable for companies to double profits through their exploitation of unrelated circumstances eg, they blame the Russians, Covid or the weather, when really it's their greed.

I know price controls don't generally work but something's got to give, as this avarice is pushing hundreds of thousands over the edge into poverty.

Woolies is holding own brand milk at $4.5 for now

    • Easy answer - cows are the most resource intensive “food” animal, including their milk. Economies of scale only go so far.
