91

Was looking for a spare office chair and saw this, slightly cheaper than RRP. Please note Innerspace is a Queensland only Herman Miller Dealer and we cannot deliver Herman Miller products outside Queensland. Please contact them for further details.

QLD only though which is a bummer, hopefully someone can take advantage of this.

        digitally?

        • spiritually πŸ˜‰

  • Oh come on! πŸ™„ a) its not the cheapest everyday price and b) jack definitely lives in a Hermann Miller chair.

    • +2

It is the cheapest by a lot. Prices now are the new normal though

This item is in very good condition. This is an item that has been used previously. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended. Actual item may vary in colour from computer monitors/calibrations colours.

This is used, where as the one linked in post is brand new unused.

@Clain: I understand that but the pricing on these chairs is just offensive and with zero justification. They went up during covid taking advantage and because people are still paying for them, they wont come back down.

At best, they are $1200, tops.

            • @Benoffie: @Benoffie fair enough, ultimately this will be down to the person to decide.

Thanks for posting this second hand alternative, have a good evening.

@Benoffie: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2596252 Here's a thread talking about pricing in 2017 way before covid, and this person pointed out that the USD price converted to AUD being about $13xx, before "Australian tax" so another few hundred, so that doesn't seem like pre-covid price was $1200. What you're thinking about is likely the old model the Aeron classic that came out many years ago (Which is the one you linked).

All I can say is I was buying office chairs before 2015 worth $1500 or more from a reputable truck seat making company, with about 5 years warranty, and I had to replace a bunch of parts myself, whereas Aeron offers 12 years warranty and if there's any issue with the chair, likely it can be serviced by a technician on-site at your location.

Everything went up in price with covid anyway, whether it is worth it or not it's up to the person.

            • @Benoffie: facts

    • Totally get that it is not the cheapest one out there, but just thought that this could be an option for someone in QLD who is looking for one.

My current office chair, Fern, was not on sale when I needed it, so I didn't wait and got it at the time.

I still don't regret the decision since my back probably couldn't wait longer.

    • Can't you get ones that some overweight IT guy has farted on every work day for 5yrs for $1,000? Now THAT's a bargain.

  • I sometimes question if my butt is worth that much

    • +21

If you rent it out for a day you'll probably break even.

      • LOL πŸ’€

      • You'll have a sore butt either way though.

      • I wish. I'd do it. 2k per day is too good to be true.

    • You butt may not be, but your back definitely is.

  • Jesus. I remember when these were in the low $1000 range.

    • +1

And all of its competitors still are… shows you how little people do product research.

      • Are we talking ergohuman etc?

        • Haworth & Steelcase.

  • I was three weeks into the purchase before someone pointed out that I was sitting on the crate it came in. Wouldn't have been so careful not to spill the Grange on it had I known.

  • ok im going back to office works with that 249 dollar chair and going to buy 3 of these…

  • I buy office chair from kmart.😭

  • I fell out of my chair when I saw that price!

  • +2

What advantage does this chair have over say, a throne?
    Which I could also afford.

    • +2

Thy throne doesn't swivel your Majesty!

  • o my, 2k

  • Wow cost of living crisis my a**

    • +1

I’m trying to figure out what you’re even trying to say about a notoriously overly expensive chair company selling an overly expensive chair

  • +3

ive had one for 10+ years now, its paid itself off

  • Mirra without the arm rests much cheaper new and you can pickup some bargains second hand

I also have an Aaron but prefer the Mirra.

  • +1

I had these at work and I thought they were shit

  • +4

$2,000 for an office chair… oh dear.

As Mr T once said - "I pity the fool, that buys this chair for two thousand dollars"

  • +6

I know everyone just wants to talk about price, but if you actually care:

I bought mine from these guys, they have a beautiful showroom and great staff… I went in and tried all the chairs for about 30mins before deciding the aeron legitimately is great, they even helped me properly adjust the show chairs to suit me

Go give it a shot even if you aren't going to buy… I'm 6'2" and spend all day at my desk, no other chairs were as comfy long term

    • +1

100% you can sit on this chair for eight hours and not be uncomfortable, or in pain like any other chair, you would sit on for a long period of time.

      • +1

Yeh I'm 3 years in and not a single sign of wear either, you can tell this will last the long haul.

        • I've had mine since 2007, replaced the seat pad last year as it started to tear in a couple of spots and the foam was breaking up a little, otherwise it's like new.

  • +2

Thanks for the heads up, bought one for my daughter as she has worn out her chair which she used alot during study from home in 2020 when she was in Kindy.
