Help! I have permanently locked my Vodafone Pocket Wi-Fi 2 Modem

Hi All

I bought a Hauawei Pocket WiFi 2 from Vodafone and I received a free unlock code from an OZBargain member. I attempted to unlock using the code but I must have done something wrong cause now it says that I have entered the code incorrectly 10 times and the device is now permanently locked. Is there anything I can do to remedy this situation - I want to get off the Vodafone sim cause it is too expensive.

Any helpful advice appreciated.

  • Ring up Voda and explain it to them is what I'd do firstly.

  • Really sorry to know that. Unfortunately, I believe Vodafone can't do anything about it as this is factory firmware setting unless they are willing to send it back to Huawei to reflash the device. This is normal setting for all locked 3g modems which only allow limited attempts on entering the unlock code.

If you are using the unlock code that I provided, the code is 100% correct for the IMEI unless you provided wrong IMEI number? I am not sure why you didn't contact me if you found the code was not working in the first few attempts?

Currently, I am not aware of any third party software including DC-Unlocker.Com is able to reset the counter for permanent locked device. Cheers.

  • Hi YYY,

Thanks for you help and advice. I must have had a bad day - I certainly don't remember entering the code in 10 times! I will probably upgrade to a 4G device soon anyway so I'll just stick with what I have in the meantime.

    Thanks again.

    • Bad luck, I must say. There may be something wrong with the device if you didn't enter the code 10 times.

All the best in your 4G device purchase. Cheers.
