Advice for switching to Rapid-Net fibre?

I’m being offered to connect to a fibre plan with Rapid-Net in my apartment building: https://www.rapid-net.com.au/.

Their deal seems amazing - $55 a month for 200MBps download and upload, no connection or modem charges.

Problem is I can’t find much information about the company other than their website, so a little wary. Seems I don’t have much to lose by switching, other than the hassle of switching back to my VDSL plan if it’s no good.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts?

Edit: I should point out that I found out about the offer via a letter in my apartment mailbox.

I cant even get their website to open properly….

whats that old saying about if it seems to be too good….

    • I cant even get their website to open properly….

They're still using an ADSL 2+ link to their server.

    • It took a while to actually load the website fully for me.

TCO is good if there's problems, worth a shot

    • I guess I’m concerned if I’m without internet for an extended period trying to deal with their service, especially working from home frequently.

According to their T&C they use DGTek infrastructure, but they aren't listed on the DGTek website as a retail partner.

Some more reputable RSPs listed by DGTek include Launtel and Future Broadband. I'd be approaching them to ask for a quote - you may pay slightly more, but if you're getting new infra installed you'll want a responsive and available support team. You could always give RAPID a try after getting the connection installed…

Their logo is included in the list of retail partner logos

      https://www.dgtek.net/partners

    • That’s good advice - a lot of the providers seem like small companies, not sure how good the service will be.

Edit: it seems like switching will just be more expensive than what I’m paying for now, and while I could get faster speed I don’t think I need it?

  • According to their website…

    200Mb Download
    200Mb upload

That is not the speed. That is your data allowance.

    • That is someone mis-labeling units.

    • No it’s unlimited data, just poor wording, which is kinda a red flag.

    No contract minimum cost $290

If you leave prior to 12 months you are contracted to pay (I assume) a minimum $290 break fee.
I assume it's not a minimum spend over 12 months, as that would be met in the 6th month.

    • Yeah the conditions state that if you cancel within 12 months you pay for the modem.

  • hey mate have you tried it out? I am thinking about switching too, but their website looks really crude.

    • No it just seemed too risky, and I had the same concerns about the website and general feel of the company.

      • thanks. yeah, I also got an offer letter in my apartment mailbox. they even type the building's name in the title. which also looks a bit weird to me

Rapid-Net and Pineapple Net all operate (reseller) under DGtek Fibre Network, they even sent DGtek technicians for the installation. I have been using Rapid-Net for two months now and no issues whatsoever, solid speed of 200Mb, unlimited data and free modem/router. Happy lad.

    • What router did you get?

  • this is a retailer of DGTek. Im with them thru Pineapple Net for year with no complaint. im on a $50 50m plan not sure if i wanna give extra $5 for 150m lollll

(but the letter also said price held for 12 months so they will likely increase the price afterwards but Pineapple Net has not increase my price tho their retail price has increased according to their website
