Just a heads up to anyone who sees the higher number and expects this to run better: the 7800X3D usually beats the 7900X3D and the 7950X3D in gaming benchmarks. Only get this if you have very specific workloads that will benefit from the extra cores.

7800x3d usually beats this yes. But I dare say this cpu has the better future proofing as inevitably games of the future will demand more and more cores.

  I'm not sure if you've seen the tech behind this - this CPU will either: not use the extra cores (it turns them off, by design) or it performs worse when using the extra cores. For gaming, this CPU is much worse
