  • how much is shipping to Sydney?

    • not sure….was asked to login on checkout so couldn't determine shipping

  • This might be off topic. It's looks like a good deal for a brand name TV.

Off topic. I bought a 3D led TV from Hisense last weekend at JBHIFI when they had 15% off TV sales. I was watching the tvs side by side. Hisense faired pretty well. Samsung would have been better technology. But for me it would be hard to see the difference from a reasonable distance away. Samsung 50" was at $2000 for 500Hz clear motion rate. Hisense is one of the major brands in China, and the Chinese products are getting a lot better and are pretty good quality (depending on how much you are willing to pay).

    Summary:
I got the Hisense 50" at $849 including a free pair of 3D glasses.
The main thing I wanted was the 3 year + 1 year (total 4 year) onsite warrantee.

    Personal thoughts:
3D is great. But you need to buy their "active glasses". If you're a family this is anywhere from $50-99 RRP per glasses.
    2D->3D sports horrible.

I prefer the Samsung, Panasonic, Sony EPGs for 2 reasons. 1) They display more information easily. 2) You can browse more easily - with Hisense you need to press the up button or down button - with others you can press channel up or down and scroll by the page

Other issue: Teletext is like some of the other tvs where you can not select the font size - which means it takes up a lot of the screen on large TVs.

    RE: Kogan
I had considered Kogan for the 55" 3D. However, I was dissuaded because of the previous negative reviews from people and friends, and the way they use online marketing techniques/reviews. I was worried about the customer service.
The price was good with Kogan. But warrantee was not in house for this heavy and bulky item and I heard of issues with customer service and warrantee.
Also I needed the TV on the spot, and just wanted to carry it home.
Also I heard they had issues with their 3D tvs, but not sure if this is still the case. But why take the risk? When you buy something, it should just work out of the box.
I have bought other products from them, without any issues as I could go to the manufacturer for warrantee rather than deal with a slow email response.

JBHifi has great service, and if you ever needed to complain there is a physical shop to go to.

Would recommend Hisense to others with the caveats above.

  • This TV seems somewhat lite on features. No 3D (not a biggie), no smart features, No WiFi, remote looks like something from the 80's. Chinese made 80's gear at that, not the 80's Philips remotes.

I purchased a Samsung UA40ES6800 last week for HN for $1099. Although it's smaller, it has many more features (mDimming LED, 3D(inc 2 glasses), Smart, excellent MM playback, WiFi, 250Hz(or 500 if you believe their spin).

$1000 seems too much for this.

    • Short description of the TV (a level back in the provided link) says it's an IP TV i.e. a smart TV. However it isn't stated anywhere in the main description and so I didn't put it as a Smart TV.
