$50 Free Driving Credit at Uber Carshare (New Users)

Found this code while exploring car rental options for my trip on this upcoming 3 day long weekend.

n.b.: Though on their page it says "This code will give you $50 free driving credit on your first ride", it is also valid even if its not your first ride with them.

Update Oct 2023: The code no longer works for existing users

  • Is there anywhere I can redeem this code without booking a car?

    • Not sure mate since I already booked the car and redeemed the code can't really check this for you. Maybe give this a try - look for any car, go through the booking process and at checkout (on the payment page) add the promo code but don't click on the 'Book now' option. Go back to your account settings and check if the credit is applied or not.

      • Didn't work, unfortunately.
Might have to just book the cheapest car for an hour and not use it to get the extra credit.

Book a trip > 48 hours in advance with the code, then cancel it shortly afterwards.
Over 48 hours in advance -> Full Refund

      Thanks OP!

Thanks mate, claimed for my previously booked long weekend trip!

  • How is that compared to car rentals? Especially it is more expensive if you travelled further. Any thoughts?

Hmmm are you asking for help with the math? I would help you find X but there are too many unknowns.

    1. Booked a trip per hour basis 48 hours in advance using the code,
    2. paid nothing as after applying the code it deducted the $20.45 off the coupon code value,
    3. cancelled it right after receiving the booking confirmation and trip cover emails,
    4. $50 credit is still sitting the account

Perfect, packing up and moving things into storage on Thursday so just saved $50. Thanks OP.

  • Does this mean it's a free ride? Or can it be stacked with a couple of rides to a total of $50 if I want every trip to be free..?

    • Its car rental not taxi

  • Says I'm restricted. Probably due to not using it in over a year.

Says the promo is available for first time borrowers only

  • Used DRIVE50 and saved $50, as I just signed up and booked the first trip. Will use this for the next one. Thanks

  • for those who have used this service, does it come with any km included? I checked one car and it shows 53c/km+toll will be charged after the trip. Does it mean that I pay for the booking and then km on top?

    • Is that $50 credit use for general uber credit or must use on this carshare?

      • Is that $50 credit use for general uber credit or must use on this carshare?

        It's car share!

    • +1

Yes, you pay for the booking + km + toll on top. If you search around, there are some cars that are 33-39c/km. The fuel is included in the km but you must return the vehicle with at least 1/4 tank. If you need to fill up fuel, you upload the receipt and they will reimburse you after the trip.

      • thanks @skd100™ for the info. I am booking a people mover so looks like 53 cents/km is a standard rate.

  • mon-thu prices are a bit cheaper than the fri-sun

when i tried to use code, meg said: "This promo code is available for first time borrower only"
    can anyone help please?

  • ubercarshare does not have insurance cover. Its "damage and loss cover" is provided by Mobility Mutual, which is not Insurance regulated in Australia.

Directors of Mobility Mutual have absolute discretion whether it choose to cover damage or loss of the vehicle under ubercarshare.

For me, this is a deal breaker without piece of mind.
