Bulova Mini Lunar Pilot 98K112 'Snoopy Dial' $699 Delivered @ Starbuy

210

For those who've been waiting for the Snoopy dial Lunar Pilot to come on sale today's your day. It's a big, cool-looking watch with some interesting history behind it.

Copy/paste from the web site:

Designed to be Noticed – Bulova Archive Series 98K112 'Snoopy' Special Edition Moon Apollo Lunar Pilot Mens Chronograph in full Stainless Steel with an Ezi-Release matching Blue Leather Strap and certificate of authenticity.

On August 2, 1971, a Bulova chronograph was worn on the moon, engineered for the demands of the lunar environment. Now, Bulova returns to the design and updates it with an exclusive high precision quartz movement, continuing its legacy of precision timing with the men’s Bulova Lunar Pilot chronograph from the Archive Series.

The Lunar Pilot 98K112 chronograph features the same 43.5mm silver-tone stainless steel case as the original Bulova chronograph. The case thickness is also slimmer at 12.5mm and the lug width is 20mm with the lug to lug measurement of 50mm. Slim blue chronograph pushers and a crown featuring the Bulova tuning fork logo are positioned at 3 o’clock. Under the flat sapphire crystal, the six-hand chronograph dial is rendered in a blue-and-silver panda design, with a blue tachymeter ring and retro Bulova name. The slim hands and applied markers offer exceptional legibility and are applied with super luminova for low-light display. The recessed, circular grooved sub-dials include a 1/20 chronograph seconds counter at 3 o’clock, running seconds hand at 6 o’clock, and a 60-minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock.

The Lunar Pilot is powered by Bulova’s proprietary high precision quartz movement, resonating at a frequency of 262khz for unparalleled accuracy. The watch is paired with a matching 3-link silver-tone stainless steel bracelet with a push-button deployant clasp and a NATO leather strap, both of which feature an easy release system for quick changes. The Bulova Lunar Pilot brings the past to the present with a design from space exploration history, perfect for the modern adventurer.

Was just putting together a post but you beat me to it. This is obviously the standout of the two colourways, but $150 extra over the black version might be a stretch for some people.

Worth mentioning this also comes with two straps, a metal bracelet and a leather NATO style strap. Leather strap is quick release as you would expect, but the metal bracelet strap also features a quick release mechanism that will see you swapping back and forth within about a minute. An unexpected favourite feature of mine which makes swapping between metal and leather feasible and not a huge stuff around.

I got the same with my Mini Lunar Pilot but I haven't swapped them over yet. I'm looking forward to doing that, I normally try and swap straps when a watch comes up in the rotation.

Which brings me to ask: where do folks normally go for decent quality, affordable straps? It's hard to wade through the dross on eBay or Ali to pick out anything worth considering.

        decent quality, affordable straps

Mine are affordable, and as long as they don't split like Casio resin bands, I say decent.
Today I'm wearing this Weide on a $3 silicone oyster.
I swapped the included silver clasp with the black Weide branded one.

    • This is obviously the standout of the two colourways

The standout is the 98A285 Titanium, but if you want to talk about stretch….

      • talk about stretch….

        Ω

  • haha Deepak listened!

This is definitely the better colourway.

  • Originally, I wanted the Snoopy - but I pulled the trigger on the Black a couple of days back.
I am very glad I did as the watch looks so much better in person than the reviews.
The Black is timeless and I think I made a right call - My only worry was the Snoopy may "date" and go out of fashion (with me).
Good luck! I love all the Lunar Pilot Mini's!

  • This is still on until Monday morning
