I have a concession card so knew I was eligible for this $500 payment but I havent heard anything. I had left Energy Australia and paid my final bill. So I went to my old account and checked, and there was a $125 credit there which I have withdrawen as refund. So if you are eligible, check that you have received it https://www.energy.gov.au/rebates/energy-bill-relief-househo…

its a national program
That's interesting that you were able to withdraw it although I guess as you had closed the account…
I'm eligible and it's showing in my Origin electricity account. I have quite low energy bills, so I don't think I'll use the full $500. I tried to make a partial withdrawal and was refused, they said I had to use it against the next bill. Fair enough but what if I don't use it all? I asked this and was not given an answer. I'd be happy for it to be refunded to the government but not happy if Origin ended up pocketing it.went to my old account and checked, and there was a $125 credit there which I have withdrawen as refund.
it's automatically applied ?
Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
Young people get rammed again.
ill informed and incorrect
Thanks for providing any substance.

Look at the people that get it:
Pensioner Concession Card Health Care Card Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Gold Card holders marked with any of the following: ‘War Widow’, ‘War Widower Pension’, ‘Totally and Permanently Incapacitated’ (TPI) or ‘Disability Pension’ (EDA). Commonwealth Seniors Health Card Family Tax Benefit A and/or B People using certain energy-intensive life support equipment at home
So you can be old and not a pensioner and get $$$
its for health care card holders and up, if the electricity bill is in their name
@screensaver: Can you get a Health Card Card without a Centrelink payment?
@deme: I believe so yes, I was about to apply before the pandemic and learned that I could.
@screensaver: Want to find a case where you can? https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/who-can-get-health-care…
Because just for being old you get the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card:
To meet the income test, you must earn less than the following:
$90,000 a year if you’re single
$144,000 a year for couples
$180,000 a year for couples separated by illness, respite care or prison.
Add $639.60 to these amounts for each child in your care. There is no assets test.
@deme: You absolutely can, there are various types, including a Low Income Health Care Card
Amazing
So if you are young you can earn 52*877.50 = $45,630
But if you are old you can earn $90,000
but theywouldnt be eligible for a pension then, you can only earn 200 a fortnight, the self funded retirees are saving the taxpayer a fortune in pension payments
BuT I WorKeD hArD for My $1 milLLiOn ProPErtY aNd PensIOn!$#@$!
the self funded retirees are saving the taxpayer a fortune in pension payments
The self funded retirees that are living off their super because they were responsible with their money.
And a pension scheme that is currently paid for by the working class that won't exist when it comes to them retiring?you get more super than they did, its increased
@screensaver: You're getting more of a pension than they ever will ;)
The system is geared in such a way that if you're asset rich but liquidity poor then the government is only too happy to help you out so you can live in your overpriced house :)
Because heaven forbid, we give the younger generation a fighting chance at owning a home.
@Drakesy: im not old enough for the pension. Many of the younger generation will be inheriting their parents homes, They became overpriced because of investors taking advantage of negative gearing to feather their own nests, and because of the Reserve Bank keeping interest rates too low for too long, making people think they had lots of cheap money
I thought Family Tax Benefit A and B applied to young people with children? Most young people of income earning age with only themselves to support wouldn't ordinarily be thought to need a subsidy? I think the Bill Relief is distributed differently in different states and we're talking about NSW here.
Add NSW in your title?
