The Access Point WiFi 6 Pro (U6 Pro) is a high-performance, dual-band WiFi 6 access point ideal for home and office use. The U6 Pro is capable of reaching an aggregate throughput rate up to 5.3 Gbps with its 5 GHz (4x4 MIMO) and 2.4 GHz (2x2 MIMO) bands, which allows it to support over 300 concurrently connected clients while maintaining an even, reliable wireless experience across your entire network. It can also isolate your guest traffic to ensure optimal security and speed. The U6 Pro also operates at full 4x4 MIMO with 160 MHz channels to create high-capacity wireless uplinks and facilitate faster data transfer. It can be set up in minutes and fully managed with the UniFi Network application.

  • I really want to get the wifi 6e model but $500 (double the price of this even with the discount) is still pretty steep just for the 2.5gbe ethernet port over the base 6 AP.

The bigger point of difference is going to be be the additional spectrum, who cares about 1 vs 2.5GHz NICs on a WAP?

    • I tested that model on WiFi 6 devices and on one WiFi 6E device and it wasn't worth it over the U6-Pro once I'd turned on the 80MHz channel width (it's off by default)

I haven't gone 160MHz since I have a lot of older devices and I need extra range and stability

Most of my devices are wired up too so I only use WiFi for mobile devices so I've settled on 2 x U6-Pro instead of 1 x Enterprise

I'm in an open suburb without too much overlap between wifi networks though so I'm sure if you're in apartments etc. you may see the benefit

Can this be used with any old router? Or do i need to be in the ecosystem?

You will need a way to provide Power over Ethernet to use this. Via a PoE injector or a PoE network switch.

      • Yeah no worries, any concerns with installing this outdoors?

        • It's not weatherproofed, so you're definitely not going to want to get it wet. Or in direct sunlight (I would be surprised if the plastics are UV proof or whether it's designed for 40C operating temps).

          • @rumblytangara: That's not true it can be mounted protected outdoors

It's sealed up and there's a rubber seal on the ethernet ports too very tight

The mounting brackets cover every scenario too

  • Damn, bought one last week for $269.

  • How do you see that throughput on a 1gbe connection? Im not a network guy.

  • And it's gone that was quick

I messaged a private eBay seller for a unit with no receipt etc. and he sold that for $250 a few minutes after I tried to reduce his expectation - highway robbery but people are keen on these units

    Any deals on Dream Machines?

  • Back in stock!

  • I've got a UAP-AC-PRO atm which is connected directed to a POE switch then my home router and but it's configured via the Unify App, i.e.: I don't have any Ubiquiti WLC.

Do I need to buy a WLC thing from Ubiquiti If I want to add this AP to make it seamless roaming between UAP-AC-PRO and this U6-PRO using the same SSID?

    • No you can use one client PC on your network as a unifi controller

I've got 3 x AC-Lites set up for someone with no other unifi devices

Since you've got an AC AP I would suggest turning off WiFi 6 and having the same settings on each AP until you upgrade it to an AX AP

      • Last I checked, a downside of not running a controller was that the APs were really bad at band selection. They just stayed on static channels, even if those channel were heavily congested from neighbouring APs.

Has this change recently- is the Unifi gear smart enough to do sensible channel selection in the absence of a controller?
