Do you used Google/Apple etc?
Used Google allot. Not Apple fan.
Puzzled as Google is a yank company and cannot see an obvious connection to OZ.
startpage.
+1
i use their search engine, not their browser. just use your favourite browser + adblocker + ddg search engine
Plus containers (in Firefox) for the regulars, private tab for new stuff.
People need to pull their heads out of their arses and realise that web crawling and creating a good search experience in general is an extremely hard thing to do.
It shouldn't be surprising a lot of the smaller guys are either straight up paid (Neeva, though they no longer exist) or piggy back off of the bigger guys while pretending they're better in some way (DuckDuckGo), such as forwarding your searches anonymously so Google and Microsoft don't get to tie your data to a specific profile.
The main 3 competitors that actually use their own stuff are Google, Bing and Brave.
2 of them aren't very good at figuring out what people want outside of major population centres like NA and EU.
So for most, Google and anonymous Google forwarders like Startpage remain the best options.
The lack of relevant websites just keeps me bringing back to Google honestly, e.g. if you search pizzahut you dont want to go to pizzahut USA (instead of pizzahut AU) etc. etc.
Bing is not that far from stupid irrelevant results toowith ddg you can filter by region, eg australia, and get relevant australian results first
you can even set a lot of ddg preferences and then bookmark a ddg url to use those search preferences each time
Search engines aint what they used to be.
Have you tried https://search.brave.com or https://kagi.com/
Haven't tried the second one, cheers will check it out.
Context context context…
Mods - can we get post title updated to point out this is in regards to the Browser, not the Search Engine…
Also OP, you missed the end of that quote:
In August 2022, company announced that they will block Microsoft trackers in its browsers.
To answer your question, deme:
Is DuckDuckGo Any Good?
Search Engine? Yes. It is my default search engine.
Browser? Can't say - I use Firefox.
Are you hosting a web site using DDG for DNS resolution or DDG for hosting or something else? Puzzled as DDG is a yank company and cannot see an obvious connection to OZ.
