I love how they try to suggest because it’s (apparently) BPA free it’s 👌

    • +1

Yeah, it's like saying consuming cyanide is ok because it's arsenic free.

    • care to elaborate? Interested to know more on this

      • Plastic is never safe when heated. It releases nano and microplastics. This also applies to hot drinks such as coffee in plastic cups (think about travel cups)

I have another 30 of these I use for mass meal prep, they are just the right size and the steam vent on the lid is great for when reheating. Highly recommended.

    • +1

How do they go freezing meals in them?

      • +4

Perfect as long as you let the meal cool in fridge first.

I've done Fried Rice, Satay Chicken, Curried Sausages & Mash, Roast Pork & Mashed pumpkin, Stew, Korean bulgogi, Sheppard's pie, Spaghetti Bolognese, Silverside (Corn Beef) and veggies, Japanese curry with veggies, Taco mince and more I'm forgetting I'm sure.

I now always cook in bulk, put lid on with steam vent open to cool in fridge then label with masking tape and close the vent and put in freezer, lasts months without any freezer burn or such, great way to cut food costs and have meals that only need nuking (and sometimes extras like cooking some fresh pasta as it doesn't freeze great).

Open steam vent when reheating and do in afew short 2-3min bursts in microwave stirring between, easy as.

Can you link us some of your amazing sounding recipes please?

          • +4

@lordra: Some are my own (experiments haha) or from friends and some are lazy mode, but happy to share my recipe doc I keep for reminders.

I avoid colesworth these days so everything here is from aldi for cheap if you have one near you bar the Asian stuff I go to my local Asian supermarket.

Curried sausages, slow cooked beef & carrots, Korean beef mince, Spaghetti Bolognese, Slow cooker beef stew and Fried Rice: https://i.imgur.com/om5RlLE.png
(Leaving out the mashed potatoes or rice etc I'm sure you know how to make them), I don't like freezing pasta so I just cook it fresh for speg bol, but reheat the sauce/meat.

Japanese curry I cheat and use one of these (cheaper from local Asian supermarket) https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/682526/s-b…

I do it with 1 kg of carrots, 2 onions and a sweet potato, super simple but extremely tasty and very different from Indian curries. Have it with rice or any form of meat (hell I've had it with chicken nuggets and it was great). I know I could find a recipe to make this myself but hell even people I know in Japan just use those.

Same as I cheat with the Sheppard's pie as well, buying aldi's Sheppard's pie spice mix, been meaning to find a good one for this to make myself but yeah being lazy I guess.

Korean bulgogi I buy from local Korean supermarket already marinated from their fridge section, just cook it with onions and have with rice or pasta (again something I could learn but it's so good as is).

These recipes make a lot of serves, like the fried rice is normally 10 easily, so it is a lot of cooking but then you don't have to cook for like a month or more so it works out well imo and is defiantly cheaper.

I have that same box sat in my pantry, so I"ll give it a whirl.

Just need to be a little careful of the lids getting brittle in the freezer. Don't drop them or put anything heavy on them whilst they are frozen. I now have twice as many containers as lids!

        • Yeah good point to bring up, I've had this happen to a couple over the years that I've put other things on top of so yeah do be careful.

These days I just stack the same containers on top of each other. I have two draws in my freezer just of these containers as they stack with each other nicely.

    • You're poisoning your body with micro and nano plastics every time you heat those things. Just so you know.

      • Thanks for the tip tin foil hat person.

        • -1

The existence of microplastic isn't tinfoil, it's scientifically proven. But you do you.

  • I cant seem to hit add to card/buy now, just get redirected to an empty cart. Looks like might be sold out.

  • :( Missed it

  • Wouldn't even get these if they're free. Sure, they're bpa free! Do they still release microplastics and nanoplastic everytime you heat them up.. Yes.

How quaint. I didn't think anyone had used the word 'oblong' since my grandmother, in 1958.
