Earn cashback using their prepaid debit card. No upper limits on cashback in a single transaction.
I've used this now for several months and have decided to leave it. In my case, the cashback seemed tiny over many months of use.

$10 for the referrer and referee, after the referee makes at least 2 spends (not a request/split bill), using Bano Mastercard, over $5. Referee must also split bill on a bill paid using Bano Mastercard with another Bano user (not a manual split bill).
Better to use HSBC 2%, rather than guess the CB here.
If CB eligible with HSBC. Not without its own strings attached..
Only purchases under $100 and each month you deposit $2,000 or more into account
I've got 2 automatic transfers at the end of Month from a different account to HSBC and then back the next day, don't have to worry about qualifying.
I don't think that you can use it online and get cashback?
Yes HSBC won't give you cashback for online purchases, but Bano will. I used HSBC for in store purchases under $100, and Bano for online purchases
@nicholasv: I'm posting this as a reminder for people who are not aware of this.
Don't use a debit card for online purchases without using PayPal. When paying online with a credit card you can contact your bank to dispute a transaction and in most cases they will be on your side. With debit you don't have this luxury.
Is there a limit of spending monthly to get cash back
Its up to 1.8% and previously when I used this card I never received the 1.8% it was always much lower.
how much lowers?
its variable and depends on where you are purchasing from. For example from Apple it was .2%.
Absolutely nothing on the site or T&Cs which tell you how much CB you’re actually getting. Up to is a big red flag
"How is the ‘up to 1.8%’ cash back calculated?
The percentage of cashback returns relies on different factors such as, but not limited to: type of transaction made, who the merchant is, and currency used. These factors determine the percentage of cashback is received and is not decided by Bano. However, unlike most banks where their major income comes from commission fees, Bano's feature of cashbacks ensures that all the commission is shared with the Bano users."
Wouldn't trust getting cashback at all
I haven't had any problems and have been using it since about February.
Are you able to confirm your average cashback percentage?
Last time I used the platform (last OzBargain promo for Spotify CB and bills), I calculated the CB to be minuscule.
What’s the rate you normally get then?
Ive used bano, its not so reliable but it's not bad. Im using CS currently, cashback 3% will ends end of september
I guess CS will be in trouble if no alternative service but will see how they do after september
I might try to use bano more
CS?
Looks interesting, thank you
tried to sign up and it asks for your "tax ID"??? thats my TFN??? cant skip this?
That's pretty standard for opening a bank account which this basically is.
Not standard. If U don't provide TFN they just withold max tax on your interest. It's optional.
Any international transaction fees with this card?
Up to 1.8%
A few months back, Coles was 0% cashback.
How was coles $0 cashback ? Really?
Yeah, about 5-6 months ago was hoping to get Bano cashback from buying those Coles Mastercard gift cards. Did that and ended up getting 0% cashback.
been happy with previous cashback deals of BANO
Is the cashback instant like hsbc?
can't remember as they have not promote themselves for a while, but they granted what they advertised
Sorry but is it just me it sounds like baño?
anyone got this?
what's the cashback for tax office payments?
no one picks up on their telephone no.
Normally government fees/expenses are ineligible for cashback (CrypoSpend is the case)
I’ve been using this card for this month and seriously this is a joke.. The cash back on this is 1 cent, 2 cents , and one time I got is 12 cents which is the highest. My expenses are all between $30-$100 range. This is not up to 1.8% cash back. It’s a joke lots of 1 cents and 2 cents cash back
Kmart has refunded me two times this month worth $20 but bano is not showing the refund from them , I have contacted bano and they have ignored my emails. Also I haven’t received any cashback this month. Something is dodgy about this company.
Anyone not getting any cashback at all?
Yes, even I have not obtained cashback for 3 transactions, that have settled over a week ago.
Haven’t got cashback from any transactions even in early February. I’ve just withdrawn all funds from Bank because I don’t trust them any longer.
They still haven’t sent me my Kmart refund and still showing pending. I also have removed all my money from the account
Just got a handful of the temporary charges that were pending all the way back to January refunded yesterday.
Have you been getting cashback for transactions?
I joined in Early March 2024, when they’ve migrated to MasterCard from VISA. Every since then I never had the base cb of “up to 1.8%” and honestly dont rly care about it, coz getting so much more from “Split Bill Reward”. Thats where the real game is.
Do the Split Bill Rewards work with every transaction you've tried? I'd be interested to know if you can get cashback on Sniip payments (which in turn can be used for BPay payments)
@wangasm: To answer the question myself now that I've used it, the Split Bill function is disabled for some transactions/merchants. Notably for most dedicated gift card vendors (Prezzee, Card.gift, Shopback). Some Sniip payments work but some don't (eg. DEFT/rent is disabled).
Noticed there is a cap of $10 cashback per transaction. So it doesn't really benefit large transactions as much unless you can split their payments (less than $200 per transaction is ideal). Unfortunately, this being a prepaid card, it doesn't work for things like Paypal's Pay in 4 or Afterpay.
Another small caveat is that you must split the bill within 24 hours of the transaction becoming confirmed (not pending) otherwise you won't get any cashback. But because the amount of days it takes for transactions to become confirmed is random, you need to keep track and check your transactions everyday (They seem to refresh daily at 4pm AEST)
Other than the above it works great for everything else, even for international transactions (no fees too)
@wangasm: Another scenario where you may not get cashback is if you do more than 1 transaction at the same merchant on the same day. I assume they do this to prevent people maximising cashbacks by splitting a big payment into multiple transactions.
Yep same, all pending (declined ones but taken out of balance) were refunded end of April.
And now I actually have response from the chat team in-app. They say they are upgrading system and should be getting better response-wise by the CS. They mention any declined pending txn should be refunded automatically up to 10 days (didnt mention working, but assume so, meaning up to 2 weeks) so lets see going forward how it goes.
Great way to break even with so many shops charging around 1.8% in CC surcharge fees these days
