Deus Ex: Human Revolution Augmented Edition (PC) $5.69

140

GameStop / Impulse Driven are having their usual weekend sale with many titles under $10(USD). Often the sale games are region restricted and not available in Aus but this time there seems to be quite a few available.

This game is the current Steam weekend game deal with 75% off but the Steam price for this Augmented Edition is $11.24 (USD)

These Gamestop deals usually run for the weekend only so go have a browse at the other stuff too.

EDIT: This is a steam activation key game.

  • Good price. Thanks OP.

  • Hmm good price, but requires GameStop app? Can't I just activate it on steam instead?

    • Further down the page for the games it states 'IMPORTANT NOTICE: This game requires the Steam client to install & play.' So it would appear that it is a steam game and not a GS app game :)

    • This game runs through Steam regardless of where you buy it. Download app, get key, delete app.

  • It's amazing how cheap it's gotten, and so damn quickly. I remember buying Deus Ex roughly 3 years after it's release for double the price.

Good game, deeply flawed though - but great at this price.

    • Flawed in what way? I haven't noticed any glaring problems in it…

      • I didn't like the forced boss fights. In DX1, all bosses were skippable in a non-lethal fashion. Or you could kill everything in your sight if you wanted. There was a lot more flexibility and customisation as far as augmentations and skills were concerned.

In DX3, for the most experience points, you are forced to actually go non-lethal and engage in hand to hand combat for the most rewards. Going undetected in a zone also rewards you. But what about the players who prefer to go guns blazing? sorry, no bonuses for you, and so the player earns less praxis points overall.

The game was also very linear — the only hard choice you had to make was at the very end of the game.

Ah, very true about the boss fights, I'd forgotten about those.

I guess I never really noticed the difference in experience point gains - I was pretty much always non-lethal. I don't find this to be a particularly bad thing - guns blazing is more for BF3 and COD, DX3 is designed to be thought about. And praxis points related more to a stealthy kind of gameplay anyway - the only augment that a guns-blazing type of player would really find useful, would be the Typhoon. But I do get your point.

Storyline-wise, then yeah, I think it was pretty linear, but most games are these days (ME2, ME3, DA2, Skyrim). Since it wasn't intended to be a full RPG, I think it can be let off the hook.

For me, those are all just peeves, they were a tad annoying at the time, but they barely detracted from the experience itself. I wouldn't call them deep flaws, that's for sure. I thought Morini was referring to game-breaking glitches, a completely retarded hole in the storyline, etc.

      • Boss fights, finding your way around between missions, wildly varying difficulty, many useless augmentations, rubbish acting (so bad that I skip the storytelling but it is then a pain to get through some of the "convince people" missions).. I don't really know why it got such rave reviews.

  • Thanks OP! Bought and paid using paypal funds from the D3 RMAH, downloading via steam with no issues.

  • Keep in mind that there's currently 75% off the franchise in Steam, if you're interested in the DLC (pretty good for the price).
