I had a long handled parrot beak pruner for many many years, with wooden handles about 50cm long or so.
Sadly a handle snapped yesterday. Any recommendations for a sturdy, effective replacement? Or what characteristics to look for or avoid?

Yep fiskars gear a bit pricey but seem to handle the job and outlasted all the other cheapies I bought over the years
The point of difference is the PowerGear™ mechanism which gives you three times more force. I was helping my neighbour recently - she thought I had super strength until she tried my lopper and was last seen heading off to Bunnings to get one. This one may suit OP's needs at 800mm long:
$123 at Bunnings money well spent
Got one of them for $60 at Bunnings a year or two ago. They used to have random bargains on Fiskars stuff, haven't seen that for a while now. That or the Bahco are the only decent loppers Bunnings sell.
was gonna rec fiskars too….cant fault my lopper/pruner
Get a Fiskars they are lighter in weight.
Replace the handle.
I wouldn't've thought I'd be able to as it's wooden and very old (like decades) and there's no indication of manufacturer or model.

However, it looks like wooden lopper handles are available, at least overseas. Doubt it would be cost effective, although this lopper has a lot of sentimental value to me.
It's simply wood held in place with steep rivets. Just get a similar piece of wood made up if you aren't capable of doing it yourself, and riveted back into the cutting head. It's what I would do if I had something of that age and sentimental value.
Buy Cyclone brand @ bunnings. Have replaced multiple products that failed after a lot of use.
That is replaced under lifetime warranty.
I recommend anything from the Fiskars PowerGear range.
