First time poster, so be easy on me!

Been looking for a while on getting a DJ Controller and saw this incredible deal. Second hand they usually go for around $550, so yeah. Jump in while you can! Previously was going for around $520 new (international).

Lowest its ever been according to camelcamelcamel. nice find - https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0BLSJZC94

    • Yep! Very excited I found it :)

  • I've got an Traktor S2 Mk2 atm which I'm learning on and this is tempting, although this is way more recent, i'm not sure if it's worth sidegrading to another 2-channel mixer. Thoughts?

    • Too late. Snagged it already :D

      • Good man. Great time to be in the landfill business.

  • Great find - I'm still learning on a basic Hercules Starlight controller and know I should hold off until I get a lot better, but this is tempting!

    • How is that controller btw? Any good?

      • I really rate the Starlight for beginners, and I guess for those more experienced but needing an ultra-portable solution, plus it seems to be well-reviewed.

Build quality seems pretty solid, my main issue with it is that it can feel a bit cramped and now that I've started playing with Stems in Serato, I wish I had dedicated buttons to trigger them like on newer/bigger controllers like the FLX4

        • Yeah cool, I've actually never done any DJing, just music production, but thought I'd give it a crack. Any reason why you chose Serato over Rekordbox, or is that just what it works with?

          • @dottjt: Mainly as the Hercules starter kit (including the Starlight controller, speakers and headphones) is designed to work with Serato DJ Lite (free download) and came with a link for video tutorials using that software/hardware combo.

I was also more aware of Serato at the time due to a number of the DJs I watched streaming using/mentioning it, and shortly afterwards saw their launch of the Stems feature.

As I understand it, both Serato and Rekordbox have their strengths (e.g. the latter is supposed to be much better at music library management) but it may become a moot point in the future, following Pioneer's parent company's acquisition of Serato a few months ago.

I would get this. The Starlight doesn't have dedicated EQs, which are essential when mixing (unless you are just doing wedding/pop mixes with quick crossfades). I think the essence of a "good DJ" is track selection in the end anyway.

  • I bought the DDJ 400 a year ago. This is the update to that, and I must say, I love my DDJ 400, its such a good entry level controller so cannot reccomend this enough for this price! An absolute steal!

  • Showing $447.08 now

    • damn, wonder if the discount decreased, or if the price was increased

      • I’d assume Japan-Australia exchange rate fluctuations

  • Is this an app? Where do you put the records?

    • It's a controller for an app or program essentially. Can use it with Serato, Rekordbox, etc on PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, android etc.
No vinyl or physical media required.

  • Has anyone ordered one? It says it'll arrive in November. I understand it's Japanese stock but that sounds ridiculous

Mine has already arrived. Ordered on the 8th

      • what delivery date did they give you originally?

        • +1

I was also told it would arrive in November (like nearly 2 months) but mine is arriving on Thursday.

    • +1

Mine initially said mid October, it has arrived in Melbourne today.

I ordered some Pioneer CUE1-BT headphones from Amazon Japan a few days afterwards and they've already arrived.

      • Is the Japanese stock any different? Do you need a different adaptor? Is the language in Japanese? For the FLX4

        • +1

It arrived today. No diff as far as I can see. All English. USB-C connection to computer so no need to worry about AC adaptor. Can also be powered by USB-C to power adaptor.
